Hi all,
I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.
Everyone is welcome!
I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.
This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

I am fairly new at posting but have followed the Funny Farm for a while now. I am going to school to be a RVT (basically a RN for animals) and also have a German Shepherd that has an issue that sounds alot like Wilson's. Celia is allergic to fleas. One flea bite and its itch on. My vet gives her Prednisone when she first has an outbreak then all is fine. We went thru trying all sorts of things before finally getting relief with the prednisone. Maybe ask the vet.
Most importantly, I wanted to suggest for you to call the rescue place and let them know what is going on with him. The shelter here in Ohio that I volunteer at for school helps the owners that adopt an animal with the medical bills that surprisingly pop up. Most shelters and vets will work together (vets give shelters reduced or free services) and maybe they can help you out with some of the costs.
Today (yesterday) was a good day at the vet. They took the time to talk with me about Wilson's itching problems, did some tests and scrapings, and a thorough exam. Although the problem has not been pin pointed, I feel we are in a better place in finding out what's wrong. He does have flea problems, even though we treated him for that, and a yeast infection in his ears and possibly on his skin, as well. They didn't give him any more steroid shots, but they treated him for fleas, and gave us antibiotics and a solution to bathe him in. Although allergies have not been ruled out, other things are being considered first.
The girls there remembered me from taking in both my twin girl Labs almost two years ago to be put down (two weeks apart). Wilson was very well liked by the whole team. They gave him something to calm him, as well. I think the road to recovery is in his future.
I called the Humane Society this morning, and they are unable to help with any vet bills, but I really didn't expect that. He was a stray, and was named Wilson by the people at the Humane Sociey. I suspected this was a homeless dog with no name. I am going to give him a new name...not sure what just yet.
Thanks to all for the conversation, interest and support. It helped with my own frustration and gave me plenty of food for thought. But mostly, I felt like I had some friends in my quest for a solution...and that means a lot to me!
And kagancelia...I just read a number of other posts by you. If MLx3 is our Avatar Mom, you can certainly be our Dog Mom! (Or Dad...not sure?!?)
