DD got her driver's permit today...I let her drive from the bank home and around town a little...and even let her park the van in the garage! I do think it will be nice once she has more experience!

She could have had it a long time ago. She will be 16 in November and you can get it when you are 14 in Iowa! I am sure she wasn't ready when she was 14, but I think she is now...I was 14 when I got mine.

Jawdrop in Missouri it is 15 for a permit...wow 14 is that because of Iowa being a farming state?? not sure if that is what you would call it... Smilie

It is similar in Montana. You can get your permit at 14 and drivers license at 15. Scares the heck out of me! Glad that it is 16 here with a VERY provision license until they are 18. laugh out loud

Yeah!! Good for her! Was this her first try? I think Katie took 2 tries. I can't remember. DS on the other hand had zero wrong the first try! I had helped him study after I went in to get a copy of his birth certificate and I had to show my ID and the lady said mine was expired! EEK! I had to go downstairs and take the test so I could legally drive home! I paid close attention to what they asked and then helped DS study. You will love it for trips and such. And she can drive while you cut coupons! woot just ask my kids. laugh out loud They would rather drive than cut. Their choice. Tell her congrats!

Not all of Iowa is farms. At 14 you get a permit. At 16 you get an intermediate license which has more penalty for tickets and accidents. If you are ticket and accident free you can get a full license at 17. For those of you that drive through South Dakota, they can drive by themselves at 14!!!! Look out! Actually, I guess they can in Iowa too on a school permit. Straight route to and from school. I did not let DS get a school permit and I haven't let Katie either. Will think about it next fall when Vball starts.

Aw , Kootz, please don't ever shut your trap. Now we know how to pray for her, and you, and stupy dh who obviously is not thinking before he speaks here. There's not much harder in life than trying to figure out God's plan. I've never been more frustrated than when I've told God that I'm okay with any decision, if He could just shed some light on his plan for my life so I can move on or prepare myself. You can vent here any time. Comfort
