Plus he's not a small man. I think he likes food and likes describing it. Probably gets the author's creative juices flowing which may help him take off on other detail on other things within a story. Writers can be funny in how they get their inspiration, who knows.

But you do have a point, if he is trying to allude to something peculiar about the food then he may describe it just a bit different and try to slip it by then later a big reveal points back to that allusion. If you skim, if you aren't entrenched, you skip it and never notice the subtle detail difference. Hmmm now I'm going to have a head on a swivel and read all the delicious descriptions carefully.
Have you read all of the books?

For the two things I'm thinking about, I didn't notice as I was reading it. It wasn't until I read about some theories on the Westeros Wiki and forums. Though one of them seems highly unlikely, another is most definitely Sick I think they were both in Dance with Dragons, though.

And yeah, when I saw GRRM, it clicked "Ohhhh, now I get it" with his food descriptions. laugh out loud

I'm all caught up on the seasons...but I'm still trying to decide if I want to try to read the books or not. I fear they will be tedious to get through.

I will. I'm a begrudgingly slow reader. I'll stick to a pace of about 2-3 chapters per day. I'll be all caught up by the time the next season rolls around. I'll also have the seasons on Blu-ray by then too. laugh out loud

Yeah, I am slow, and these books made some things even slower.

Certain people's chapters just made me dread it. Sometimes I would skip, read someone else's, then go back. Needed to motivate myself to get through some of them. I think I took a break for something like 1 to 3 months while reading Feast for Crows. Happened again with Dance With Dragons.

Bran's I dread. I enjoyed the Eddard and always love the Tyrion chapters. Tyrion's are far more dialogue driven than description driven like Sansa (also boring) and Bran. Still a work in progress here but the show does (though shortened greatly) do a good job of painting visuals.

Oh, I liked Cersei's chapters. It shows how really crazy paranoid and power hungry she is.

D
Lol this is entirely my problem with Cersei's chapters. We already KNEW all of the traits of her personality. It revealed absolutely nothing new about her, and her action could have been condensed into 1/8 of the pages with the same effect. She has 10 CHAPTERS IN FEAST FOR CROWS! 10!!

If you're feeling down about GOT finishing, you might enjoy this show, although it doesn't have any dragons in it.

The reviews on it are decent (even though it's not historically accurate) and it has a 7/10 star rating on IMDB.

A Belgian high school math teacher has used an extraordinary new way to control his classroom. When his large classroom was getting rowdy, the teacher threatened to name all the characters killed in the story of the HBO show Game of Thrones, in chronological order.

Ignoring his threat, the classroom refused to quiet down. So the teacher started writing names on the board, along with how they died. And then the room quieted down.

Ohmy This would be awful for any kids who weren't participating in the rowdiness, but were following the show.
Though those kinds of kids would have probably already read it. Glasses2

Wow....great start to the new season. Looking like they're kind of jumbling up the order of events but that's fine, I expect that. I would love for them to show more of areas of Dorne but I doubt we'll see that.

Just remember, in a lot of areas where they are walking from one locale to another (on the outside), they are actually on horse. Guess they don't have the budget for that many horses and horse handlers.
