All this talk about teen drivers....makes me cringe!!....Only because my son (14yrs old) brought home a signup sheet for Driver's Ed.. He will take it this summer, only because here you HAVE to have Driver's Ed. to get a restricted license. However, I dont' think 14 (or even 15, which he will be in Aug.) is old enough to be driving. Why do teens insist on causing mom's to be soo stressed?? LOL Add that to an 18yr old who is about to graduate (ya that costs a fortune it seems) and applying for college...and well I am about to go CRAZY!!
Just because the law *says* they can legally drive at 16 or even earlier on a school/work permit doesn't mean they HAVE to. Ya know, momma law supersedes state/federal law in this house. Wink

Iagree With Mini Thrift we decked out the crib with cute bedding, etc., but found in reality that we never used any of that stuff because it was hazardous. With JJ he got sheets and that is all. Poor deprived kidlet. laugh out loud

Check the dollar store. I'm always shocked by the amount of mainstream stuff they have there. Mavis is a cutie!!!

I am NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT going to teach her to drive.
There, there, it will be alright.
Step #1: Sign them up for driver's ed as soon as they can take it. That way, there won't be much time for them to bug you to drive with them before they have had some actual driving experience with someone who is being paid to be scared shitless.
Step #2: Send them out to drive with your husband, their father, grandfather, uncle, what ever male you can con into it. I don't know why, but men seem to be a little more relaxed with the whole thing. I think tend to be a little more panicky about it and men just don't. Yeah, it's a sexist comment. Deal with it.

The more tense and freaked out you are the worse the kid is going to do. You are going to make them nervous and scared and they will freak you out even more. Knock it off and just go with it. Bite your tongue and take them somewhere safe like a big empty parking lot. School parking lots and shopping malls are usually empty after hours. Move on to residential areas that are off the beaten path -- as little traffic as possible. If you live an area where you can, drive to the nearest little tiny town and practice there. Stop a minute think about how excited you were to get your license. Then hang on tight and grit your teeth.Wink

I got a pair of the soft gray leggings for my daughter. She wore them to work last night with a plum and gray sweater dress that came not quite to mid thigh. It looked really cute.

You are out of kcups EEK!
I was just thinking of you this morning.. weren't you the one who recommended the folgers vanilla kcups?? I still haven't tried them. I need to find a coupon for those!!

Sitting here sipping some coffee.. Need to clean house today, but really wanting to go shopping Smilie
I know...cardinal sin! My in-laws were here and LOVED my Keurig machine, so my stock was depleted. In their defense they did buy some more, but then drank it all before they left. laugh out loud I don't mind, really - its not too hard to use the filter, and it means I'm putting to good use the coffee I got.

And yes, I did recommend the folgers vanilla biscotti. Its delish. Big Grin I'm not sure if there are any current K-cup coupons out or not. Have to check.

Thrift stores always have coloring books. But other than that, the dollar tree is always a great place to get some.

OK, so I am now the proud owner of 3 $10 codes. What should I get?!? Those wooden dress up dolls are very cool. My middle child has the princess one, so I will probably get one of the other ones. Anything else?

Dreeme - how did your day go??

Nikayla - thank you! : ) I will let you know if/what I need. HDD sent me some :he art: (thank you) I have to sit down and plan my transactions and see if I can use more. Things have been so hectic here that i don't get to shop like I want. : (
I hear ya on the hectic, I also have not had time to shop like I have in the past. I never get to shop like I want to Evil or think I want to, like almost everyday, multiple stores with lots of shenanigans.

Mavis is so stinking cute, love the cow outfit and cow bum. heart Poor baby I can see one of the bruises on her little leg.

Let me know if you need anything. I hope we can get some stamps later this week, DH is busy listing stuff for sale.

Dreeme paging Dreeme, I also am very interested about your day. I would love to hear how many total orders you get. worship I wish I could find me some yj!

I didn't realize so many of us had kids the same age, my oldest will be 15 Nov 12th, I can't believe I have a child that old! Best thing about spacing them out is I have a great sitter for the 7 (8 next week) and 2 yr old.

I did the aveeno last night I got 12 bars @ $2.99 each minus a beeepless $1 TQ and I had 1 $2 IPQ came to $2.99x12=$35.88-$1tqx12=$23.88-$2IPQ=$21.88->$5gcx4=$1.88 oop

IDK if I will let my oldest get even his permit unless he has all As and Bs - which will be a feat for this one. I just remember ME driving as a teen :sha ke: sc ary.
That is not to bad at all with the Aveeno, I have yet to try the bars. What is the Neutrogena? I still have a stash of face bars from the last $2 MQ but I go through them pretty quick. I am so terrified of my DD driving! We will put it off as long as possible.

saw preview of little red riding hood yesterday. dh and i both agreed that this is the best preview we've seen of faster, no strings attached and beastly.

I would be very distracted about the no coat thing with snow on the ground. It snowed all day yesterday off and on and again last night most of it is melted now. But it is so freaking cold, I hate being cold, I would spend the whole time thinking about their coats and trying to mentally put coats on them.

Leggings with a more denim look..worn with tunics, sweaterdress, dress..i have seen some people wear them as regular pants with short top and I dont think I could carry that off...

I didn't know slips were still in fashion Hide
I don't think any one can carry that off, it just looks off. Even the skinniest biotch wearing jegging as pants looks funny IMO.

Personally, I hate driving, hated getting my license (didn't get it til I was 18 1/2), and just hate the idea of my kids driving... especially after watching stuff like this [youtube.com].

If it were just my opinion here, she wouldn't get her license until around 18ish! But that's me... DH thinks she may be mature enough to drive at 16 with her parents, so I don't know. I definitely like the idea of her driving with us for a while, but I am not ready to think of her driving alone or worse - with friends.

Since I hate driving as it is, my plan is exactly as you laid out - daddy will be teaching her (and if grandpa makes it down to TN soon, he'll be helping out.) I *KNOW* I would be spastic and NOT help her at all. I'd make her a basket case! I think I may even consider paying someone to teach her!

I know there are a couple other people here with thyroid issues. Any of you have horrible hair as a result? Mine has thinned terribly and it's all limp and fine. It's just nasty. It's medium long -- below the shoulders in back and most of the sides. Yes, I know, limp thin hair should be short. But hubby HATES short hair and frankly, stuffing it into a clip or pony tail is just too easy and I don't really like short hair either.

Anyway, I contemplating a perm. I haven't had one in years. A year or two ago I actually got one at beauty shop and it didn't take. Not sure if it's my hair or the the girl who did it. If I do it, I'm doing it myself. Yes, I know what I am doing. I used to perm pretty regularly. So cost isn't a factor. The box is sitting in the bathroom and the rods are in the cupboard. What do ya think? Should I give it a shot? Then, I thinking, if I do, that I will run into town tomorrow or Thursday and have it trimmed and shaped up a little bit. Contemplating actually getting it cut a little bit more than a trim but not short.

Been wondering the same thing. I think I need to search for baby food, DS still won't eat many veggies so we resort to baby food to make sure he is getting them.

We must be long lost sisters. I did not get my license until the week before I turned 18. My younger sister, 2 yrs younger, almost got hers first. I would have waited to, but she made it into a competition and was teasing me so I bit the bullet and just went ahead and got it. I was sure I would fail the driving part but I didn't.

Another thing is Target's coloring books frequently go on clearance - I have gotten a good bit of our supply for 75% off - I just buy as many of them as I can afford, because I know we will go through them. With 3 little ones, we color A LOT. nod Although right now, the oldest (5yo) is into word searches, dot-to-dot, and any kind of word puzzle that is on his level.

At one of my favorite thrift stores, I found a HUGE Disney/Pixar sticker book. None of the stickers have been used at all, its basically brand new. I got it for .10, and my son hasn't been able to put it down since. I love finding bargains like that.

My son came home from kindergarten this morning, looks in the living room, and goes, "Mommy, are we having a yard sale?" Rofl2
