I took 8 yr old ds to NIMH (yeah, like the rats of NIMH laugh out loud ) for an autism assessment and my parent interview. The research assistant kept asking if I was sure if he had any interests other than Lego. No, pretty sure he doesn't. Is anyone here surprised? Wink

At the end of the 4 hour interview, she asked me if I thought ds would have mentioned Lego to the developmental specialist that was doing the ADOS and other autism testing. I said that oh yeah was sure he had. When the guy came in, we asked. Lego was mentioned about every 15 minutes.

My ds did pretty well and we'll get the doctor's findings in a few days. It's kind of nice to get a second opinion especially when we don't have to pay for this one AND they can offer suggestions for other therapies and resources that might be available through them.

Anyway, the doctor also asked if ds has an interest in science and earthquakes. Why yes he does. Not to the extent of Lego but it's there. One area they had problem working in was analogies. It went something like this:

doctor- a pen is to a stick like the Earth is to a ...

ds- did you know the plates move and .... and the 8 yr old spent 15 minutes talking about tectonic plates and then went on to how black holes form.

Know what I love more than donating food to the animal shelter? Cart attendants that are called to the register just as I am ready to checkout. heart After his appt, I went to the closest T the GPS could find. It was wonderful! A two story Target with its own parking garage, and outside the cafe (on the second floor) there was a deck and tables for enjoying your popcorn and pizza. The carts were bigger than the ones at another store that also have two floors.

Thanks, I can't wait! I love Disney too. We haven't taken my youngest yet. My other kids have all gone before. Honestly, the last trip was when I was preggo with her and it wasn't fun at all. I didn't ride anything, and it was so hot cause it was June. My SIL is a teacher and only would go in June.. This time, I told DH forget the family.. we aren't going in summer. We are going end of September, or first of October.
My DD will be so excited.. She loves Disney characters.. Pooh and Piglet are her favorites along with all of the princess characters now Smilie

I am excited because this will be our first trip since getting into SD. I have been reading the travel forum and gotten alot of good tips already. I am hoping to book our stay within the next month and go ahead and pay it off..
We went to Disney last July and the July before that we went to Universal. Are you staying on the property? We rented a 7 bedroom house and had our entire family there. It was a ton of fun! The house was 2 blocks from a Walmart and a short drive to Disney.

Nope.. we have stayed on property before, but we won't be this time. With a family of 6, the choices of places to stay are slim and not cheap on Disney property.. Plus, in my opinion, it wasn't really worth it for the little time we were there.. Besides, my DD is a horrible sleeper and the hotel thing doesn't work well for us.. or the people in the room next door Teehee

We stayed in a rental house last time and I was pleasantly surprised how nice it was. I really enjoyed the private pool out back. We are gonna rent a 3 BR because the grandparents may want to come for a few days..

I agree rental house is the way to go Smilie We stayed in a house in a gated community called Lake Berkley. We loved the private pool as well as the community house pool. We loved being able to cook our own meals when we felt like it.

Nah, I admit that I didn't come to a complete stop, but I'm anxious to determine how much it is. Fighting it would mean a day off from work and a trip 25+ miles west to the next county. Not worth my gas. . . it's too bad I meet the paper guy on Sunday, as IF I could do both on the same day, I would probably say that Officer Martin hadn't met his quota. IMO failure to come to a complete stop is different than not even slowing down.
Quote from cathi4savings :
Officer Martin huh ? Maybe he doesn't know his codes well enough to write you for a
incomplete stop,(incompetance is everywhere) or may he was tired of having them bargained down in court to lesser offfense.

None the less that bites.
Holy Expensive Ticket batman! OMG it's for $184! Plus 4% if I pay it online. Of course there is nothing that says how much it would have been for failure to come to a complete stop and nothing about what court costs are, if I wanted to fight it.

That IS expensive shhh, not to mention don't know about your state but here that will send ins premiums thru the roof for three years. EEK!

Court costs here are minimal maybe ten bucks, if he doesn't show it's an automatic win for you. Do you have a state dl learning manual the offense and fines should be in there . I'd definately try to research this and fight it if you can ,
if the ins thing kicks in where you live. Some times you can just talk to the prosecutor on the court day, prior to court in the hallway . and just bargain it down to a lesser offense yourself.

Yikers !!!

I pulled the Huntsville Fine and Court costs and Athens is $47 more than Huntsville is... I live just north of Huntsville. I may call in the morning and see if they have a cost for failure to come to a complete stop and what the court costs are, and if driving school is an option or not and if it is, how much it is. It's 2 pts on my record with or without driving school according to what I've read online.

Court costs are pricey there. Frown . Maybe you could call the equivalent of your state agency ,we call it the division of motor vehichles here . They should definately be able to give you the info. as I'm sure driving offenses are state codes. Good Luck !

NO offense intended ...did you check the back of the ticket?, fines and court costs and such and "your responsibilties and rights under the law " are on the back of ours.

Might need the aforementioned white t shirt and short skirt on court day.

Have you ever bought something and thought "WHY did I buy that?" I got some almost-free Planters nut mix after Christmas and we never opened it. But today I needed craisins so I opened it and picked out all the craisins for chicken salad. Then I decided to make another batch of salad with celery, onions, and cashews instead of craisins. So then I picked out all the cashews. And while I was making dinner I needed something to munch, so I ate all the chocolate covered peanuts. I think that may have been one of the most useful unintentional purchases I ever made. LMAO
