Doh thanks for setting me straight ladies! Must still have baby brain. Thumbup wave

As usual tldr

I love my front loader as well. I can set up favorites and shorten the wash cycles. Mini Thrift hates waiting so her loads are done in under 40 mins. She's done her own laundry since 6th grade Roll I like a longer wash and extra rinse on my whites so obviously that is my longest cycle. Dazzled, check your manual to see what you might be able to do to shorten your load time.

See, there ya go, two happy front-loader customers LMAO And thrift makes 3.. I am not dissin' on you gals that have 'em either, I've just read all too many posts on FB about ppl asking for opinions on which machines people like/dislike and nearly every post is someone hating on their front-loader -- who knows why....but I've never used one so don't take my word for it m2c laugh out loud

i can, no problem. just hit the star/pause button and wait for the door to unlock. they may think it uses so little water they can't add anymore, but the machine senses if it needs more water and will add as necessary. even my 1998 maytag neptune front loader would adjust the water level.

it just takes getting used to. front loaders are definitely more gentle on clothes so they last longer. they use so little water now you are supposed to mix different weights of clothing, ie, mix jeans and shirts together to add to the pounding on rocks actionlaugh out loud

That might be. It isn't messy then? I envision opening the door and a bunch of water dripping all over or something..... I definitely can't wait to get something HE someday; only complaint about mine.

I am totally un-complicated when it comes to laundry though. Heck I just discovered liquid fabric softener and I would have no clue how to use bleach when it comes to laundry Embarrassment

laugh out loud There is a spot to put the bleach in your machine - only use it on white whites though.

My HE machine gets my clothes really clean, btw

My theory is who needs bleach when T. is handing out free socks AC nearly every few months Roll When they get too grungy-looking we just open up a new pair/pkg. Smilie

We're going to go ahead and get our washer and dryer that we'll eventually move to the new house. Does anyone have one that they love, recommend, hate, etc? I don't really need anything fancy, there are only 4 of us so it's not like I'm doing laundry for 12 people.
:
We got HE front loaders about 2 months ago.. We got Maytag 4000 series and I love them so far. The clothes seem so much cleaner and we hardly use any detergent at all.. And, I am not kidding about the decrease water consumption.. We do tons of laundry and we had a toilet that didn't leak, but sometimes would run a little too long. Our water bill had gotten up to 80.00 a month.. We got the new W/D and DH put a toilet repair kit on and this months bill was 25.00 Smilie

i'm so jealous! when my dryer dies, i'm buying a samsung matched set!!! dunno when that will be Dontknow.
Mine has a indicator of when you can add clothes, you can add for the first 10 or 15 minutes by hitting pause.. if you need to add something later, you actually have to stop the cycle and restart... so, yeah, if I really need to, I can still add.. but usually I just wait.

Me too.. me too.. love mine as well..

it really doesn't make a big mess.. A little bit of water drips out when I open the door mid cycle, but not a ton..
I have read mixed reviews about the liquid softener in the HE machine and so I haven't really been using it lately.. Thoughts anyone??

As far as bleach goes, When I had a top loader, I added about 1/2 cup of bleach to the water before adding the clothes when I washed my whites..

Okay.. been so crazy busy this week.. I am so tired.. popped on to read and decided to jump in on the washer/dryer discussion.

Worked the last few days.. my oldest kids were at a youth mission trip all week. DH picked them up at 10 am while I was working. He called me by 11 am and told me my DS had a severe toothache ;( He already had an appt for next week to have an extraction but I think it abcessed again.. Had to leave work and go pick up antibiotics and pain pills for him.. Then, went back to work for a few hours. Left work in the afternoon and drove straight to the oral surgeon where my DH was having his wisdom teeth removed.. So, I went back to the pharmacy and got antibiotics and pain pills for DH. And, with 4 new scripts, you would think I could have atleast gotten a free GC from somewhere, but I couldn't find a coupon anywhere EEK!
I feel like a drug dispensing junkie around here tonight. Just went by target and got some soup, and ice cream.. and some Olay LMAO Figured I might as well grab a few things while I was there.. ended up being a great little scanning jedi.. wish I would have had time and energy to actually do a run Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Thanks for all the feedback on the washers and dryers. I was totally shocked at how much $$ they were when we went looking today. I've never had to buy a set since the last 2 houses have come with them. They were older units, but we've never had a problem with them.

yes, mine has a bleach dispenser too. i don't know if they still have it but there was a maytag w/ an oxiclean dispenser too.

i was going to say my maytag neptune was a miracle worker getting clothes clean and the bosch does just as well. i deleted it for some reason. i do have to pretreat grease stains.

i made sure mine had an onboard water heater to do the sanitize setting b/c i used to always getting conjunctivitis. of course i've only had it one time since i got the washer. that sanitize setting really does sanitize. one of my washcloths is about 25% smaller than the others.

i basically only use white vinegar as fabric softener in my newer machine. bff's dh is very handy and took apart their maytag neptune and replaced the ball bearings that got shot from oversudsing. the outside of the inner drum was caked all over w/ disgusting brown gunk. i only saw it after she had scraped it off and it was still disgusting. i think it could have been buildup from the waxes from fabric softener. i think you also get the mold and mildew smell from it growing on fabric softener residue in the machine.

never use regular detergent in an HE machine. bff's dh's friend is an appliance repairman and came over and took a look. he told dh the ball bearings had gotten rusted out from suds getting into the ball bearings. even though the instructions for that machine said we could use regular tide or wisk if we couldn't find HE. he said that was incorrect.

yes, they are a lot more expensive and do not last as long. large appliances used to average 13 yrs. nowadays w/ motherboards, etc, you are lucky they last 10. i would say somewhere between 5-10 yrs.

the same prices for black friday actually happen a few times a yr. you can set a deal alert.
