OMG! Best of luck. How long is the drive supposed to be. I have driven from FL to AZ several time (sans kids) and boy was it long. Something about driving through 1 state for an entire day. I am sure you are avoiding TX though? Drive safely Smilie

Hope everyone has a nice day. I think the Suave is free this week. I saw double packs Whee for $2.49...w/ a $5 GC wyb 4. There are $0.50 hangtags and the $0.75 TQ. Makes each pack $1.24 so free AGC.

when are you leaving.. ... and loads of fun,i mean fish
Early Saturday morning... unless we decide to take off Friday night and drive part way up, which is what I would like to do. It's about 7 hours up there. Check in time at the cabins is 3 but ours will be empty the day before so she said any time after lunch is fine.

We don't hurry and if we spot something interesting or something we want to do, we stop. This ranges from stomping through forest trails to interesting looking yard sale. And we both suffer from raccoon syndrome --- we get distracted by shiny objects. So, sometimes there are lots of little side adventures.

And, we have to stop somewhere for licenses and bait, probably Wal-Mart so we can grab any last minute items, and you know how that is, you always lose an hour in there. I am soooooo ready to

Me too. Bunches of it. I have been running here and there and playing in the dirt in the yard. I looked around my house and ooops, it has been neglected. I plan to spend a little time with my friends Dyson, Pledge, and Lysol today. Oh, yes, lets not forget All -- it's already started working.

I am serious about simplify too; although, I use a little stronger term. I refer to it as ifwedon'tgetridofsomeofthisshit I'mgonnagobatshitcrazy. The mountains sound goooooooood.
Quote from getgreen09 :
i am disciplined about only bringing home things we use/will use, and not bring home any maybes, or curiosities, or "i don't know what i'll do with these"
I've gotten much better about this. And, of course, there is stuff that I have soooo much of, that I will only get more if it's totally free -- like body wash and shampoo; but, I have cabinet space in the garage for it. Little by little I am getting rid of some stockpile stuff that we are not using and I am trying to remember to actually USE stuff I have.
Quote from getgreen09 :
then there's the alcohol cabinet. that needs flushing out too.
I'm pretty sure I can think of a couple people to help you with that!
Quote from getgreen09 :
and my closet, oh my closet. i really need to do some renewal there .......all the so-so stuff and not really me anymore kind of stuff needs to go.
I'm pretty good at this one... but then, I have no interest in clothes and own very few. My rule of thumb has always been if the season went by and I didn't wear it, it goes. A quick flip through the closet in the spring and get rid of everything winter that wasn't worn.

Or try this "test" -- If you were somewhere and your husband had to pack your clothes and he grabbed "this" would it be ok? Would your wear it? No? Then get rid of it. Yes, I know, he will probably go straight to the lingerie drawer, just pretend he went to the regular clothes. I have a couple exceptions, of course, like something dressy that I rarely wear but need on hand.

I bought bushes to do my little corner gardens, now I'm having second thoughts. There's also another bush that would be absolutely perfect in the corner of the corner garden but those suckers are 30 bucks a piece and I need two. I am just too cheap. Anyway, the bushes I bought either need planted or returned. I wanted to get it done and sort of surprise DH (since I've been bitc... complaining about it) but now I'm thinking I might set the stuff in place and see what he thinks. Then, I can still return them if we decide to do something else. I hate it when I am indecisive.

The pool needs vacuumed and I should probably mow tomorrow or Friday, otherwise it will be too long by the time we get home.

Oh, yeah, and tonight I have to start following DH around saying, "have you packed yet? Do you intend to pack anytime soon? You need to pack so I have your duffle bag when I load the car. HAVE YOU PACKED YET???" Which reminds me, I've GOT to clean the van. It's dirty and full of dog hair.

I think I am going to make/freeze a lasagne to take a long. I got the stuff to make peanut butter bars, then grabbed brownie mix -- DH LOVES brownies and then somehow a Krusteez Lemon Bar mix fell in the cart too. We don't need all that junk!

The peanut butter bars are soooo easy and good. Buy a bag of PB cookie mix and follow the directions to make the dough. Pat it in a 9 x 13 cake pan and bake. Then melt a bag of milk chocolate chips and spread on top. Let it cool. The chips firm up. You can cut it into pieces and pick them up to eat. Easy one that your little ones can do.

Babble, babble, babble. Ok, I will shut up. For now.

Ever have an avatar just creep you out every time you see it? I don't mean you just don't like because it's offensive or just not something you like. I quite sure there are lots of people don't like German shepherds. But there is one on here that just creeps me out every time I see. It looks like a dead bloody baby.

Off to clean. I must complete one room before I return.

I got the bathrooms done. I washed the floors. I made more mango salsa. Am doing laundry. Last on my list is to dust. For some reason, I'd rather clean a toilet then dust. I really struggle with dusting. I do it once a week. How often do you gals dust?

GT (and heidi), I don't mind your heidi avatar. However, if I ever saw her in real life, like up close within 10 feet of my being, I'd probably start crying.

What avi are you talking about, because as you know, I am most nosey.

OK, so no one wants to know of the great peelies I found? Check the prenatal vitamins, tiny little peelie for a FREE Avent 4 oz bottle. It has the scary new barcode on the back. She scanned it, it said verify item, which popped up on the screen, she pressed OK and all was good with the world. At least until I realized I forgot my gum coupon.

those clothes tests would be torture on me. i love clothes, and own quite a bit. problem? most of it is from years past - sizes have changed, my style has changed. but i look at it and say, this is such a great silk sweater. it may not be in style today but it will come back and it's so elegant anyways... and so it stays. on and on.
need to do some hefty purging. which will involve trying everything out. Faint

the have you packed yet routine -- painfully familiar from childhood (mum asking Dad, known as the King of packing until the last second) and adulthood. you are a gem for having that patience.

bushes - if he's anything like the typical man, he's really not going to care about this plant and that plant and those one's are just a bit rounder than the one here etc. typical man will look at the whole corner, and say looks great honey because a) he's already thinking of something else and b) he's not going to risk your wrath. so plant the bushes YOU like. nod

Quote from bunnies46 :

....
i don't dust.
ever.

EEK!

Loose dust going places exacerbates my allergies big time. so i use wipes (7th gen) or in some cases (tv screen) a damp cloth to gently wipe off any dust. i toss the dirty wipes into a little plastic shopping bag as I go along. then the floor gets swept. then carpet vacuuming. then mopping. once i mop i know i'm done, it's like tying a ribbon on it.

I usually do bathroom cleaning taks last (unless i'm doing them on a different day), cos i like to shower after that unpleasantness.

Oh and one more thing: every room gets its own mop pad. Learned that from Dr. Oz show, don't use bathroom pad in kitchen or hallway pad in kitchen cos you're tracking nasty germs throughout the house that way. ugh.

Of course, all this is theory. I haven't done any significant or thorough housecleaning to speak of in 5 months. can't.

Roll

j/k, I only dust when I notice the dust and it is bugging me enough to dust it though Teehee I'd say I get to it about once per month unless I have people coming over, I do a good cleaning when that happens. I focus my energies on keeping the bathroom and kitchen clean and floors clean and go from there with whatever time I have left.

Why don't you live next door??? We could switch. I dust the living room about once a week, the bedrooms a little less often. I don't go in the guest room often so I sort of forget about it.

Please don't ask how often I wash the hardwood floors. I vacuum them but as far as an actual bucket of water and rag.... we aren't going to talk about that.

No, no, no. That's the beauty of the rules. You don't have to try it on. If you haven't worn it, it goes. It doesn't matter whether it fits or not. You HAVEN'T worn it. Bubye.

Glad you guys like the beef sub recipe, I had leftovers for lunch and it was delicious!
I am going to make this [allrecipes.com]for dinner since I found ground chicken marked down at Food Lion.

Quote from gt6mk31 :

this is VERY fine information. Very fine indeed Teehee Putting that in the vault for a girls' evening out!
Quote from SLickCate :
I'd love to see that recipe. Not sure I'd make it since DH eats no seafood at all, might be a waste just for me and DS if he's around.
I love their happy hours, and Wednesday is a great deal for bang bang! I also like they do happy hour from 9pm - close.
Here's the recipe for ya'll Smilie It was given verbally, so in parts vs cups. (though it translates easily into cups) I normally make extra sauce and use it for other stuff. You can make it a day in advance.

For frying the shrimp, we use a flour, egg wash, and then flour dipping, fry until golden brown in veggie oil. Tempora breading would also be awesome (flour, egg wash, panko bread crumbs).

Once the shrimp is cooked, toss in sauce until thoroughly coated. Serve over lettuce and top with chopped green onions. Enjoy!! Big Grin

Ingredients

- Dynasty Sweet Thai Sauce

- Dynasty Spicy Garlic Pepper Paste

- Mayo

- White Vinegar

(I found the ingrediants in the Asian section at Kroger, though they are probably cheaper at an Asian market)

Ratios

4 parts Mayo

2 parts Sweet Thai Pepper (manage to control color and consistency)

1 part Spicy Garlic Pepper Paste (increase to taste)

White Vinegar (to taste)

Instructions

Ratios are directional only (tweak them to taste) when mixed the sauce should have the appearance and consistency of 1000 island dressing. To increase heat add more Spicy Garlic Pepper Sauce to reduce heat add white vinegar.

Thanks for mentioning pioneer woman's site. We made the lemon basil chicken and it was scrumptious!! We were able to successfully sub 1% milk for the half&half and cut the butter in half. Can't skimp on the Parmesan cheese as it thickens the sauce. Who would want to anyway?
