Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

To the best of my knowledge, the only people in the world who recognize and actually use the words "tri tip" live in California. Never heard of it before I got here and never heard it used anywhere else.
Thank you that is helpful info...isn't it interesting the differences in regions? I had never heard of scrapple either, and never have again lol.

Nope, not pictures of cats, but I'm certain you'll find them absolutely fascinating, nonetheless.

So here goes:

This is a picture of the entrance to the senior center where I work. The courtyard is where we hold our big parties. The picture is several years old so the signage is different, but the rest looks the same. When we put out the folding chairs, there's room for about 150 people plus the band on the left side.

This is a picture of the benches we ordered -- we got three of them, but ours are mahogany with burgundy upholstery. The clients can watch the games being played or read or just chat.

And here is the famous gaming table. The table top can be changed so they can play bridge, chess, checkers and backgammon. This is the third one I had to find because by the time the others got approved for purchase, they'd been discontinued. The chair shown is not the kind we ordered. We can't use rolling chairs because the clients have trouble controlling them when they sit or get up. The ones we purchased are restaurant chairs, mahogany with burgundy seats.

Admit it, you're jealous because I'm not furnishing your living space. nod

No one lives there. The left half of the building houses social workers (and me) on the first floor. We deal with mobile seniors and walk in traffic (people of all ages who are referred to us because they don't have their own social workers but need immediate assistance). The second floor is primarily for the food service staff -- we have a Glatt kosher kitchen which feeds lunch every weekday and early bird dinners three nights a week. It's housed in a building 2 doors away, but the clerical staff works in our building. The kitchen provides meals to eight other senior centers in LA, as well as frozen meals to homebound clients. The right side of the building is for social workers who only deal with homebound clients.

I'd say easily half of our clients are Holocaust survivors and their families.

Very impressive organization, and it sounds like a rewarding environment.
