Does having a fancy smart phone with a 3-5" screen make you feel important?

Otherwise why do you pay for data to look at a screen that small?

You've had 10 pages of people explaining it to you and "showing the value". People "like you" are idiots, they'll never "get it".

Note to mods: that is not a personal attack. I'm attacking people "like him". Wink

You right I don't get it... I've read every post

Nothing anyone has mentioned has got me running out to a data plan contract!
It's all pretty much "some entertainment" on a 4" screen.

LOL... The apps are "cute"

What something is worth to an individual is not up for dispute.

Why buy a porsche when a kia performs the same function
Why do you need 3 bedrooms when you are living alone
Why do you need 4 pairs of shoes when you only have 2 feet...

We could keep going..

How much was your phone?

What do you do with the data plan that makes the $240/yr extra worth it?

Show me the value, I want to understand.
I spend more on my tan than my data plan.

My phone was 300, I do not have a contract.
I sold my skycaddie/ipod and garmin because it replaced that.

I can now play golf and answer work emails on the fly, thats worth well over 240 to me.
I can also do most functions of a regular computer without lugging a laptop around. Thats worth well over 240 to me.
Your work is contacting you 24/7? You can't have free time? Sounds horrible.

Nobody is trying to convince you that you need it. They are justifying why they pay the $$ for it. If the money is worth more to you then the convenience then so be it, I don't argue with my grandmother for not having a cell phone either..

My husband's job is sometimes like this. It's not for everyone, but his paycheck makes it worth it.

Why what?

Every consumer makes individual choices on what they perceive to be valued higher then the money they spend on it. Do you spend your nights questioning every consumers buying decisions? That must be stressful

It's your refusal to accept anything that people are saying. People have explained it to you 100's of times at this point. But you seem too dense to realize that people are going to find value in different things. You may have some fancy espresso machine, which I would find zero value in, but I'm not asking people repeatedly why they have one. They have one because they enjoy it. You really seem dense. Seriously.

You shouldn't run out to get a date plan, but a TV bigger then my monitor. Just saying.

No... I just laugh at what people spend money and time on. Big cell phones with expensive data plans are one. Wasting time on an HTPC collection is another. Lasik another.

I can see the value of a Porsche though... not that I'd waste money on one.

Why do I need a larger TV?

Thats fine, I am sure we all can think of things that make us laugh that other people buy.
But to not be able to see the value consumers perceive from a data plan is also laughable, especially if you already spend $$ on a cell phone plan (I bet more then my data and cell plan too).

It would be very tiresome to go out and fight everyone who I think over spent on something they didnt need. They can simply answer, it was worth it to me.. and what else can you say to that? Obviously it was if they traded the cash for the item/service.

I bought a second xbox for my bedroom so I didnt have to lug the one in the living room around if I wanted to play in our bedroom. Some may think it was stupid, to me it was easily worth the 200 bucks...
