But to not be able to see the value consumers perceive from a data plan is also laughable, especially if you already spend $$ on a cell phone plan (I bet more then my data and cell plan too).
It would be very tiresome to go out and fight everyone who I think over spent on something they didnt need. They can simply answer, it was worth it to me.. and what else can you say to that? Obviously it was if they traded the cash for the item/service.
I bought a second xbox for my bedroom so I didnt have to lug the one in the living room around if I wanted to play in our bedroom. Some may think it was stupid, to me it was easily worth the 200 bucks...
I agree that it's crazy to spend so much money per month on data plans and such - so I don't do it. I have friends who barely have money to pay for gas sometimes, but they have smart phones. I think that is very stupid. But for most people: if you have the money and you don't care - then go for it! I have the money, but I'd rather save it right now.
Then again many people in this thread brought up plenty of things that are convincing me to buy one

Had they never came up with NFL network and the games played there I would be streaming all my shows and ditch the digital cable HD-DVR. Fact is there is not much good entertainment anyhow.

For me maybe Avatar just because it was ground breaking in the technology of film making. It was worth the $9.

Are you serious about those USA SyFy shows? Never would I watch those, it'd be a waste of time.
Last good series was LOST and it ended badly pretty upset at the waste of an ending, The Office was good for a few seasons.
Before that maybe the first few seasons of X-Files...
Then going back really far Barny Miller, M*A*S*H and All in the family, Fawlty Towers, Bob Newhart, Mary Tyler Moore etc.
Really shows have gone downhill. Due to reality TV.

Great I watch those too on FREE cable.
Great shows hardly. More like time fillers.
Just like Horders, First 48, Intervention etc.
Oh and HBO here's my favorite thing on FREE WEEKENDS I actually record some movies/shows and then realize how much of a waste that service is.
You'd think they would make available their BEST stuff... it's horrible should be a free channel cause that's what it's worth.
I had HBO when it first came out soon cancelled it. Remember the rotating HBO with the dent, of course not you weren't born yet.
