HTH. I was actually coming in here to ask you ladies a question and saw this post.

On to my question..... anyone know of a good brand of cleanser for breakout prone skin. I never in my life had acne (except for the one that pops up once a month.) Wink In the past two months my cheek on one side of my face is breaking out. I've tried Neautrogena and Oil of Olay and neither worked, I am not using my hand on that side to hold up my head or anything, I sleep on my back so it can't be my pillow..... Anyone have a suggestion for me on something they've tried that works? I am willing to try anything. Smilie
It sounds like the products you've tried actually have acne fighting agents in them, have you tried one of the soap free cleansers? I have oily acne prone skin and Purpose facial cleanser worked really well for me for a few years. It's pretty gentle and has very little in it but it still left my skin feeling clean.

Thanks! Smilie
You may want to try a dermatologist too. They normally can recommend or prescribe something that will clear it right up. Normally it's cheaper than trying a bunch of stuff that doesn't work.

SO is gone, so nope...I will not be doing anything. Kurpee, do not feel sad. I like V-Day because my favorite color is red, and all the red stuff is a plus for me. However, if a man only does nice things for me on "special ocassions", he is not the man for me. V-Day is definitely a manufactured-holiday, and I do not like the feelings it brings out in people, god or bad.

The other girls had a lot of good suggestions...have you thought about maybe just using a gentle cleanser (like Cetaphil, Dove), followed by a treatment product and a moisturizer? The problem with cleansers is that they really don't stay on the skin long enough for you to get much acne-fighting benefit - they're definitely important in the fight, but I think a treatment product would be more beneficial. Like alvs said, a dermatologist (or even a primary care doc) could get you a prescription for something like clindamycin which is a topical antibiotic that's good for acne. Or you could look for something OTC with benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. For me, the best one I've found so far was the Kate Somerville Anti-Bac Clearing Lotion, but that's a bit pricey at $39. I think the 5% BP is good for my skin - 10% was too drying and anything lower didn't work for me. My roommate is going into dermatology, and she said that on her derm rotations, a lot of the dr's were prescribing a combination product of benzoyl peroxide and clindamycin, and that the patients she saw seemed to be happy with the results. The combo product [drugs.com] comes both as brand name (Duac, Benzaclin, etc) and as a generic.

And just a side note with regard to cleansers and moisturizers - I'm pretty sure my skin has multiple personality disorder laugh out loud It's oily one day, dry the next. Each time the season changes, the weather usually wreaks havoc with my skin until I find the right balance again. What I've found though is that it's better to just have a simple gentle cleanser, and maybe alternate with something with glycolic if you have large pores or need the exfoliative properties, and then make sure to moisturize after using a treatment product, even if it says "lotion." For the longest time, I didn't really moisturize because I figured I had oily skin so I didn't need to...after all, it would just make the oiliness worse, right? Eventually, I had a bulb moment, and realized that my skin was over-producing oil and making the acne worse because it was drying out, especially with all the acne-fighting stuff I was throwing at it! So now, cleanser and moisturizer + sunscreen in the morning, and cleanser + treatment product + moisturizer at night.

I have no idea if my babbling on helps at all...but hopefully it does!

edit: oh and another random thought - do you tie your hair back when you sleep? Sometimes the oils from our hair/scalp can cause breakouts on our face...

Btw, happy belated birthday to ramona!

Questions...

My DH called to cancel his Julep membership & had to leave a message. Is that normal? Will they cancel it, without him needing to call back?

Also, with his Julep order, I got a small, clear jar with what looks like gold & iridescent glitter. Any idea what it's for? I'm guessing it's to use with polish, but it looks like it would make a mess. I really don't know what to do with it. Embarrassment
yep, you're good. they should cancel it without any further info--but they are prone to making mistakes so just watch your credit card bill.

as for the glitter pot--i think you're supposed to dunk wet nails into the glitter Smilie

i thought about signature confirmation being a problem because it's inconvenience sometimes especially with students. dh and i think signature is not needed if insurance is purchased. we recently sold something for $100 at ebay and iirc we ended up buying signature confirmation even after we decided it is not needed on top of the insurance laugh out loud
makes it harder for buyers to open up fake INR cases. i really hate fleabay and their bs policies now. Mad

i agree with the other girls--use a gentle cleanser. i really like the origins cleansing oil [origins.com]. it takes off all my makeup at the end of the day and keeps my face moisturized. and when i need some exfoliation, i like to mix philosophy purity [sephora.com] with nieves face fix [bynieves.com] (it's a clay scrub powder)--it's gentle but effective, and not over drying! i found the best thing to keep my skin calm and clear is actually to use an oil based serum [bynieves.com]. i swear by nieves c perfect skin. it seems counter intuitive to use something oily on acne prone skin, but it actually helps balance my skin and reduce breakouts.

and to help fade my hyperpigmentation from old zits and keep my face clear, i use .0025% retin-a gel mixed with a moisturizer at night. hth!

I sold 99% of my textbooks on Amazon and it helped pay for my new books. I sold them a bit lower at cost. So like a $120, I'd sell for $80-90. Yes Amazon takes a big cut, so I'd rather sell half.com. I would list books on both at the same time and take down a listing once I've sold it. I've been lucky and never had a problem with no one receiving my book via Media Mail and I didn't insure anything. Media Mail averages about $4-$5 per book.

If you don't want Amazon to take such a large cut, try textbookz.com. I sold a handful of books here as well. Personally, I think it's too expensive to ship with signature conf + insurance. Sometimes you might have to consider that these are kids and probably will be in class when the mail comes around. Do their apartment people then sign for it? I don't know. If you were concerned, I'd ship only with delivery conf. I hope that helps a little.

Liggy, I don't want to discount anything K has said, but I've had great success at Amazon. If you really need to get rid of your books, list both places and at textbookz.com

To ship via media mail, go here: https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin...=_ship-now

You can see media mail in the ship method drop down menu.

Also, I think your insight about us here at SD is quite accurate. I've benefited so much because of all you gals here.

However, that makes me very, very, very concerned that these commentary are coming out of business students in a marketing class. It makes me feel like my degree is worth more than theirs!! Crazy

Thank for link and Amazon inputs Azn hug How are you?

I think Business school teaches you business intricacies and in some way it makes you smarter but it can not bring common sense to you. The more i know people the more I think how rare is common sense these days LMAO . It will be as it is laugh out loud one can always feel satisfied in their current state of life (or in whatever they do) and that where all the progress ends.

Of course not hug I am forever procastinator and wait for stuffs to go on clearance laugh out loudand even after that i wait for FS codes Rofl2

You said on your reviews poolside is close to bali blue color in bra. I have a bra in bali blue I am trying to find matching panties for it, do you think poolside color panties will go well or is there noticeable shade difference? I checked it in catalog and both colors look quite similar to me.

TIA Smilie

Kurpee, we don't do anything special on V-Day. gift exchange is now over too But I like to buy him nice stuffs (or even to see him wear colors that I think looks nice on him Smilie )
Just like you guys we might end up going out for dinner but we go out for dinner like 3 times a week so it wont be anything extra special for us.

I have heard that guys dont like the idea of V-day.
I am not against v-day, I heart it. I basically like the idea of celebrating love and take opportunity to say that special person in my life how much he means to me. I think we all forget it and take it for granted so often, this day should not be forgotten or go as any other day but that's only my theory.

On mine, they held all the items to ship together but didn't have a date when the backorder was to come in. I did an online chat and asked the in-stock items to be released for shipping.
