I can't identify this transaction, plz cast light on it.
looks like your credit card number was stolen:

actually my balance decreased $742 with the transaction
I would take the translation as reapplication from abandoned property, e.g. you abandoned something you bought and they are refunding the money from that.
actually my balance decreased $742 with the transaction
Wait, your balance decreased? as in you owed citibank $1000, but now you owe citibank $258?

I saw this same transaction on my Citi Dividend card statement today (different amount). The reason this occurred is that I requested a check for my accrued cash back "dividends." The check got lost in the mail. Citi sent some snail mail and phone calls to me to prompt me to request a new check. I was too lazy to do this, so eventually they credited the amount of my requested check directly to my statement. So the abandoned dividend check must be the abandoned property that they are referring to.
