GUN TALK: What are SDers packin'?

8,081 3,271 February 11, 2012 at 07:56 PM in Chat (3)
List what you're packin', and/or what you're looking forward to packin'.
  • Remington 870 Express Magnum 20ga
  • Springfield XD Sub–Compact 9mm

And I'm thinking about buying/building an AR–15. Big Grin Whee

Yeah, agreed. The second season could half been done in half the time.

After three episodes of being around annoying Lori, you'd be begging to be zombified.

So I got a chance to work out a trade for my revolver.

What do you gun nuts think of these choices?

Sigsauer P229 9MM Two-Tone
S&W model 3953 double action auto 9mm
Springfield XD 9mm subcompact

I'm leaning toward the p229, although I have always wanted an XD I do feel the p229 is worth more

What do you want to do with it?

I'd say the 229 or the XD, as you've already said. If you're gonna carry it around a lot, you may find the XD to be more comfortable because it is smaller and weighs a ton less. I'd probably go with the P229, though, since I already have a carry weapon. Smilie

What? Don't they have to do a background check? Isn't there a wait period?

In NH, a background check is a simple phone call that takes less than 10 minutes. Also, no wait period.

Not all states are like the PRK and mandate a waiting period. Hell, I don't even have to get a background check because I have a state-issued carry permit.

Guy knew what his stuff was worth. Wound up trading my Taurus for his XD package, couldn't be happier!

Also, I have never heard one bad word spoken about the XD line.

I personally don't like how blocky they are, but my buddy has a couple and loves them. I'd say you got a great deal.

Nice pickup tresanus. I've heard good things. Like a Glock, they are not really pretty, but no matter what---they go bang everytime.

Yes the only thing that turned me off about them was the styling.

But then I got my glock (block) and never looked back. I also prefer DAO pistols for CC.

Can't say for sure how I feel till I get some range time in, hopefully my cold clears up and I can hit the NRA range sunday.

My dad just picked up a Kahr CM9 so he's itching to meet me there haha

My main carry weapon is a Smith and Wesson M&P 40c. I also own a two-tone Sig P226R chambered for .40 S&W. .
How do you like the M&P Compact? Some people I have talked to told me it could get a little squirrelly especially in 40. Ive been considering one for a while now. Just havent had a chance to actually shoot one yet.

I love it. It's definitely a little "sharper" than a full-frame, but that's true with any caliber (but seriously only a "little"). The ergonomics are amazing, and it's really accurate. The only downside I've found with it is that it's hard to load the full 10+1 at first. You have to get the magazine spring used to the capacity.
