Where I work the women get 3 weeks paid leave i think, and then they can take LWOP if they have to or use vacation time if they have it. That's entirely too short of a time period if you as me.
And I don't think men should have as much time off as women, but in situations like ours, I had to be home to take care of DS1 while DW took care of the twins in the hospital. I think men should get two weeks off to help out the mother while she is healing.
Funny story: when I was being interviewed 5 years ago for this job, they asked me to give them one reason why they shouldn't hire me -- one flaw. My answer: I told them I was extremely immature.
