Rofl2 Nope. Takes about 2 seconds. I'm a 'go in and get what I want, then get the hell outta there' type of shopper, like most guys are. If I go shopping with a chick (like to a mall) then they need to know what they want cause I'm only going to give her so much of my time on that 'activity' before I'm outta there.

Nope, I know they'll look fine. I have a good dr. I'm just freaking out about the recovery.
Frequent motorboating helps w/ recovery.

Then who watches the kids? If the person doesnt qualify for federal aid, there is prolly a reason. Join the army for 4 years, they got this thing called a GI Bill. Doesnt peace corps do job training as well?

I'd also like to see mandatory smoking cessation measures for people on Welfare that smoke. Give them Chantix, nicotine patches/inhalers/gum, counseling, free lollipops, whatever. I'm not an expert by any means, so I could be totally off the mark here.
I'd rather see birth control for both parties if their child or they get welfare. The same for the child when they get grass on the field.

While decently nutritious, eating the same thing everyday is in no way healthy. You miss out on nutrients. We'd at least need a 3 day cycle.
They got supplements for that. Smilie

Frequent motorboating helps with a lot more than recovery from a boob job! Many of the benefits help me....and I ain't no chick!

I support this idea in a huge way. Instead they get paid more welfare for each kid, then we give them even more cash payments for having more kids with the EITC....especially to illegal aliens, the very group liberals (liars) claim get no welfare benefits of any kind! Many of those poor people filing an income tax return don't get a refund even though they call it that....it's a cash payment and they paid no taxes.

I read what 808 quoted and responded to. Are you meaning there was something going on between them before (outside) that post and what 808 said? If so then I didn't get all that.

Well in first place I don't see any boxes of (name brand) cereal for $2! laugh out loud Those 11 - 14 oz. boxes of Kellog's Whateverlooksgoodandcrap cereal are going for around $3 or $4 a box....and more. But I usually shop at Smith's (our Kroger here...like King Soopers for you). Might be less at Walmart but then I still have to go to Smith's for produce, so it's easier to just shop for all my food at Smith's.

To your question though.....does anyone you know really take 'only' the 'can I afford it' question into account because they really don't have the money to buy a $2 box of cereal and pay the light bill? I don't think so.
Sorry, but your whole post just shows you are completely removed from the situation and wouldn't ever really understand the depression our grandparents had to go through. The very fact that you qualified your price of cereal by mentioning name brand was enough. You think if I am in a position to have to sway yes/no over a $2 box of cereal that I am going to be buying ANYTHING based on brand? Return the 3 bags of Lays chips for Jays and there you go, you can get your $2 box of corn flakes.

Why should I be disqualified? My dollars, so I can buy whatever brand (name or no-name) I want amirite? Not buying Lay's in favor of a regional or store brand is something I might choose to do too, maybe to save money on what is a wasteful product anyway or maybe because I prefer them for other reasons....but it doesn't disqualify me.

Didn't say it disqualified you from getting help...just saying it shows you haven't had hard times where you were scrapping by without any assistance. If you are making $100 a week, without any help, you aren't going to go and even CONTEMPLATE the $4 box of Fruit Loops when there is a $2 box of Fruit-I-O's.

That's another thing... why are people on EBT allowed to buy name brand anything if there is a generic substitute?

Your words sounded like you're saying I was disqualified (wasn't qualified) to have an opinion on the subject, like you are keeping up with now....not that I would be disqualified from assistance.

What you don't know is that I went and lived on the reservation for a couple of years when I was growing up....part my choice cause I wanted to see what it was like and part my parents choice to let me see how hard people had it and to straighten me out in some ways. Holy sh!t. Talk about poor! The worst part is how badly managed the BIA really is. Badly managed and crooked as hell, just like in the 1800's. I came back with my eyes opened, ready to 'work hard' at school like never before (to say that was 'work' after how hard I worked on the rez is a joke really) and apply myself, look for and reach my potential in everything I did and be a success. Yeah, I may not be poor and am far from it but I also didn't take any government handouts that I qualify for because I didn't want them and didn't think I needed them. It would have also just reduced me to another statistic of needing government money to succeed as an AI, and I wasn't about to let myself be labeled like that. But I've lived as the poorest of the poor, really dirt poor down to the actual dirt on the floor. I know what poor is and what it's like to live that way. No one needs to tell me what being poor is or what it's like. I have lived it.

I don't know. They shouldn't be but I understand that would make the pricing structures harder and more complicated. Store and generic brands just might rise in price to be about the same as the name brand since such a huge amount of 'dollars' the store takes in are from EBT.

I never said I wouldn't look at anything but name brand! Can you show me where I did? I was making an example and going with the price structure being used already, not saying such things didn't exist. Actually I do think there is a box of Malt 'O Meal cereal (not Kellog's or Post but still a big brand) at Walmart for $1 but they shrunk the size down to a fraction of what a regular box (or sack in this case) would be. The regular sized boxes of the cereals I buy, the ones I like are about $2.90 and more, so I said $3 - $4 since they can go to $4 or more. Haven't seen a $5 box yet but I'm sure that's not far off.

That's been the case for many years in Calif. You must work or train to get your benefits. It's called CalWorks. If you have a new baby you can get an exception for a few months, but if the dads paid their support it wouldn't be necessary.
