Once again explain:

US health care costs: 16% of GDP
rest of developed world: 10% of GDP
Simple. We have the best and most advanced medical care and medical technology in the world and it continues to move forward. Obamacare will destroy that and will stop or severely slow down any further advancement.

It makes no sense at all to try and compare the percentage of GDP of our health care to that of any other country and especially not to the rest of the developed world combined.

Our health care system needs some serious improvement, but not at the cost of quality of the care provided.

And yes, instead of reducing the national debt as Obama promised, it is now expected to add to it. And it won't be able to support itself once the requirement that everyone purchase health insurance is found to be unconstitutional.

That's not the reason. Try again.

I'd like to see people on Welfare have free job training/college/financial class, especially if they seem to be from chronic, generational welfare families. I'd like to see food stamps be shaped more like WIC, with only nutritious food allowed. I'd like to see people on Welfare have the 40 hours each week I spend at work structured- either in class, volunteering, or job hunting. One of the problems I hear repeatedly- Welfare pays more than a lot of low-end jobs. I'd like to see "partial Welfare," where you can get a job, but Welfare will supplement your income to a point. I'd also like to see mandatory smoking cessation measures for people on Welfare that smoke. Give them Chantix, nicotine patches/inhalers/gum, counseling, free lollipops, whatever. It seems like there's a lot of people that smoke and if you can't afford your rent that's just a massive waste of money.

I'm not an expert by any means, so I could be totally off the mark here.
Completely agree! Provide the tools for people to help themselves and if they choose not to, there are no more excuses. Able-bodied people getting assistance while contributing nothing is degrading and insulting to the individual- it's treating them like they are worthless.

I have never been on welfare, but about 30 years ago my mom was on foodstamps for a short time. She was a single mom working 2 jobs and still not quite making enough to get by. We lived in a roach-infested apartment in the ghetto. Today she makes $225K per year. Despite what some of you idiots think (ok, it's obvious you don't think), there are hardworking people out there that legitimately need and deserve government assistance. We are after all a society and while I certainly don't support helping those who are just plain lazy, I most certainly do support helping hardworking people get back on their feet.

Just ask Craig T. Nelson, he was on food stamps and welfare, and nobody helped him out!

Most of those on it are under 18, e.g. kids. Put kids to work?

We've been outsourcing child labor for too long.

I agree with you about the having kids while on welfare. Perhaps required sterilization as a requirement for food stamps?

I got the plaster and trowel ready. Just waiting for a woman to seal up...
