Amazon.com and the Texas Comptroller said Friday that Amazon will begin to collect Texas state sales tax beginning July 1, in an agreement that Comptroller Susan Combs said "resolves all sales tax issues between Texas and Amazon."

Step 2: Click on other sellers
Step 3: buy same item at prob the same price with no sales tax, fulfilled by amazon
Step 2: No 2 day shipping with that item.
Step 3: Amazon sells will decline - inevitable.
Will I still purchase from Amazon - Yes. I was just commenting my purchases would decline 30-40 percent. Not complaining, just stating the facts to my purchasing habits. Amazon is not always cheaper on a lot of purchases, however after you add in tax it may be the same, slightly more, or slightly less. Amazon has always got my purchases in these events, but now I will be purchasing elsewhere on some of these occasions. Also I know this is not Amazons fault but I can't see paying more when I don't have to. What would be nice is if Amazon reduced their prime fee for tax states. Maybe $49 instead of $79.

I will give you, though, that Texas needs to fix it's tax system. property tax relief enacted six years ago is the main source of the budget troubles in the past two years and going forward, it's a structural hole that's never been filled, and as much as Perry takes credit for it, it's a problem when teachers and local governments can't even keep with population growth that's happening.

But is it legal?
Austin lawyer Buck Wood, a tax attorney and a former deputy comptroller and general counsel under the late Comptroller Bob Bullock, says no.
"While this may seem to be a reasonable resolution in people's minds," Wood said, "it's not worth the paper it's written on. She just can't do it."...
Supriya S:Hello Ruy.
Me:Hi
Supriya S:Yes Ruy, Amazon.com LLC and Amazon Digital Services, Inc. are required to charge sales tax on orders shipped to destinations in Kansas, Kentucky, New York, North Dakota, Texas (effective July 1, 2012) and Washington.
Me:So, now what makes Amazon different from Walmart, Best buy, etc?
The only reason I would buy off Amazon was because of no Tax.
Supriya S:I'm sorry but in this situation the only option for me is to forward your feedback to our concerned department as we are not authorized to handle tax issues.
:'(
I think this was important to post because if you're waiting to buy something big on Amazon, you might want to do it before the sales tax kicks in.
