RETIRED Marlboro Outwit the West Funny Farm

228 92 October 16, 2010 at 01:35 PM
Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

Toy ! I wouldn't buy it. Too short to reach most basin nuts, and no leverage. It has an open slot down one side to fit over supply lines.... that only works if the supply lines are perfectly straight.... if not your back to using a basin wrench. Look for a good quality basin wrench if you want to buy. The first one I bought was cast... snapped 1/2 the jaw off the 2nd time I used it. Got another, forged steel... still have it today 25 yrs later. Here's a tip.... use Vasoline on all threaded parts when installing a new faucet (except those that require teflon tape). Makes it much easier to take apart in the future
The supply lines have to come off anyhow. The supply lines are flexible. It just has to be deep enough to fit over the threaded "things" on the base....right???

It didn't have the metal nuts, just the black large plastic "mounting nuts" on it. The basin wrench works on the metal nuts....right??? Not disputing, just asking.

Thanks for that Vaseline tipWink

Anyhow, thanks for the help.......I'm figuring I'll be long gone before she's gonna need a new one.....problem solvedlaugh out loud

I have a somewhat nice yard (nice grass) mostly. Last few years Ive started getting thistle and weeds really bad. Would like to get some kind of weed control that works and fertilize at the same time. After the weeds are gone I want to plant more grass in the bald spots that will be left but want a slow growing short kind of grass Sister want to lay down fake grass so she doesnt have to mow but I wont let her!!!!
Any advice would be appreciated. Im going to Lowes and Walmart tomorrow to buy it watever it is
I have bought & been happy with the jugs of Weed n' Feed. I think it's by miraclegro. It's a big yellow jug with a handle. You sprinkle it, then water. It's safe for flowers, too.

well yeah, it has to reach the nuts,,, but it depends on how deep the sink is if you can actually use the tool. The sink I installed when I redid our kitched is 8" deep. It's not fun getting up behind it to do anything. So that tool would be kinda useless for anything other than a shallow bowl sink , and still doesn't provide for any leverage.. The basin wrench is basically an articulated pipe wrench and should work on anything ya can get a grip on.

I wish.....it's a countertop, mounted on 2x4 legs, no base cabinet under the sink, the pipes go down thru holes drilled in the floor........she bought a very neglected house and does what she can afford, when she can afford it....but she gets by!
