RETIRED Marlboro Outwit the West Funny Farm

228 92 October 16, 2010 at 01:35 PM
Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

Hi Kvilla
I'm kinda on the fence about the decision. Guess we'll all have to see the exact MUST DO's about it all.
From reading what I have on it, most people who get insurance will get a rebate for it. Sister makes between $25000 and $30000 a year and from what I can tell she will get most or all of hers returned for her main insurance but she has a writer that pays her back if she spends anything over $2000 a year out of pocket. Dont think that one will pay beck but Shes happy with the one being covered.

Just saw the news. Most people will get paid back for their insurance and the mandate will only affect 6% of the population and the insurance companies will have to cover sick kids as well as well kids. oping this brings the prices down and helps those who cant afford insurance to be able to finally get it! My son is tired of having to use duct tape and super glue when he really needs stitches. Im scared to death he will fall off a roof and hurt himself badly and not be able to get medical treatment. He hated the idea of the mandate until he found out he will get it back so its not really like he will have to pay for it. My Dr said he wanted it to pass because he can do more for people with insurance because of the way everything is set up through the hospital. People without insurance dont get as good a care as people with it and some insurance wont cover stuff unless its an emergency. They would do the gall bladder surgery on me because I dont have stones. Said I had to wait till it ruptured and it was life or death!!! Everyone deserves to have equal treatment, or at least the option!
Thats my opinion anyway.
Thanks Cindy for your input, my 3 children, who are adult, do not have health insurance and it has been a real problem at times (my 22 year old daughter owes $12,000 for an emergency room visit) . I don't have health insurance of any kind (keep saying I'm gonna get on my husbands but keep procrastinating because it's so expensive and not very good either). I am excited to be able to have affordable and hopefully better insurance!

Anything about prescription coverage that I pay for and the high cost of prescriptions even with that coverage? May be too soon to know all this.

Sam's mother is in the rehab. they say she is immobile because her muscles lost strength due to sitting in that riding wheelchair all the time. She has 100 days of coverage. told dil she will be home in 2 weeks. Hope she does not sign herself out so i can finally have some time to go fishing and put the boat in. Never put it in this late.Still has to be waxed and some maintenance on the motor. No one will be visiting her for about 10 days as DIL will be away and her only friend who drives will be away. we can call her on a scheduled appt. time as there are no phones in the rooms and she must be wheeled to the nurses station to get calls. I hope they can make her walk again and that she stays there for her safety and our sanity. We will not drive over 4 hrs. to visit over the holiday. too much. Trellis is done just has to be attached to the fixed fence. I got the trellis at Lowe's (not nearly as sturdy as the one he built on the other side, but decent.) It has some metal woven in for strength, stained redwood (everything else is gray, but looks good - a change) and only left about 25% of the vine. hope it lives. bbl wave :Big Grin

It is really expensive and the only reason my sister got it was because she was afraid her cancer came back so she got it before she went to have the tests. Alot of illnesses can be averted with proper screening that you just cant get without insurance. Nobody goes to the Dr just for a check up unless they have insurance. The tests are way too expensive. Im sure Jelee wouldnt have caught his issue if he didnt have insurance. Probably would have went on thinking it was just heartburn and it will pass. Son owes the hospital here A lot of money for an emergency visit 6 years ago and won go because hes still struggling to pay that back.
Wish they would do something about vetrans now. I think they should allow them to have a vetrans medical card that will pay for them to see whatever Dr they want and get treatment at the local hospital instead of having to find a ride to the nearest VA hospital. Alot of vets are homeless and dont have the transportation. Nearest one here is a 3 hour drive. They should turn the existing VA hospitals into long term care facilities for returning vets whith medical needs or detox and let the Vets choose their own local Drs.

Think that's great idea for the veterans, I wasn't aware of that problem. Yes my daughter (the one who just returned) had a car accident 2 weeks ago where she was on the interstate after work returning home and an unlicensed foreigner rear ended her and then another car at a very high speed. Her car is crumpled from the back almost to the front and is totaled. Her head hit the steering wheel and she got a nasty bump and bruise. She wouldn't go to the emergency room because of the same reason, she still owes from the last one. That's terrible!

Apparently it closes the so called donut hole and is to reduce most meds to seniors by 50% for people who have part D. Plus they will get free annual physicals and screenings. Medicare plus will be treated the same as regular insurance in that you will get a rebate for buying into it depending on your income. My mom pays $200 a month for this and it covers 100% of what medicare does not so for her to get that back will help out alot! One thing I learned with my insurance (not sure about others) Instead of buying over the counter meds I get my Dr to write me a prescription for it so my insurance will help cover the cost. Looks like the biggest impact will be on seniors and medicare. and helping the lower middle class to be able to afford insurance.

Have ehr check her insurance. Most states require what is called uninsured motorist insurance and it should cover that. Found out with my son that if he is in someone elses car in an accident as long as I have uninsured motorist it covers ANY accident involving an uninsured car! Even if hes walking!!
