NC Marriage Amendment

2,651 476 May 8, 2012 at 08:40 AM in Debate (2)
I went to the poll today to cast my vote on the NC Marriage Amendment [politico.com]. As expected, there were a lot of lesbians against the amendment standing outside the polling place. None of them were hot. Not one. Just a whole bunch of greying, shabbily dressed, hairy legged women with signs. It seems like the lesbian community could have put on a much better display to influence public opinion outside the polls.

No lipstick. No kissing. All in all a big disappointment. Frown

Why should lesbians have to be "hot" in your opinion, to be able to marry the mutually consenting woman of their choice?
Because ugly people shouldn't breed. Duh! Crazy

On further reflection, I would have to conclude that those lesbians vocally opposed to the amendment are married lesbians. Or at least as-good-as-married lesbians. They probably used to be lipstick lesbian hotties who got comfortable, maybe each popped out a kid or two via artificial insemination, lost their razors, skipped the gym and generally let themselves go.

The lesbians showed up solely to influence public opinion at the polling place. One final pitch as the voter walks in the door. It is a question of effectiveness.

A couple of hotties in red lipstick and tight skirts would have every man shouting "I LOVE lesbians!" as he walked in to vote. And would have undoubtedly influenced a lot of last minute decisions.
I don't understand your reasoning. So you're saying that seeing a bunch of hot women makes you want them to go off and marry each other, leaving you and the rest of the male population out of the loop?

A bunch of grey haired women in baggy shirts and jeans shouting "We hope you vote against the amendment." doesn't make nearly the same impression nor carry the same influence.
Hey, why shouldn't women in baggy shirts have the right to pay higher taxes just like everyone else?

Gay and lesbian and trans people have every bit as much a right to marry as any so-called straight people. And when they fark up their relationship, they have every bit as much a right to separate and get a divorce, too. They're every bit as human as everyone else, and deserve the same rights and opportunities. And if they actually stay together "til death do us part", then good for them.

Good point. But this isn't about logic. This is about getting people thinking with a less logical organ. And is about lesbians getting what they want.

If a couple of Portia de Rossi look-a-likes approached me outside a polling place, I would likely do anything they wanted up to and including go inside and voting a straight Democrat ticket. Heck, if their dresses were tight enough, they could probably convince me to slap an Obama 2012 sticker on the paint of my car.

And if two lesbian hotties kissed, they could get me to cover my car in Obama 2012 stickers. Definitely. No question. Even if their dresses weren't all that tight.

I honestly don't get why anyone thinks it's their business what a couple does or how it affects the "sanctity of marriage." As long as you have your marriage the way you want it and are fine, why do you give a rats ass what others do? Just let people be and stop trying to make laws that only follow your belief system. We have freedom of religion here for a reason. There are enough problems that we've brought on each other that actually affect quality of life, for this to actually be worth any consideration.
