RETIRED - The Official VS, Express, Beauty & more Thread

last night. I was half asleep.

You all need to jump on the Express jewelry bandwagon with me & help me out. I need to know what's in style & fashionable. Less trendy pieces would be preferable. I'm lost & don't have a clue what to order. It's better to take costume/fashion jewelry on vacation to not worry about more expensive jewelry getting stolen. OTOH, vacation is about the only time I dress up, so I want jewelry that will complement my outfits not make them look cheap. So far, I have bought & kept: necklace http://www.express.com/circle-pen.../index.pro, bracelets http://www.express.com/abstract-s.../index.pro hematite & gold (I need earrings to go with the hematite necklace & earrings. Suggestions?), http://www.express.com/pearl-and-...pro#jsLink in pearl (I ended up choosing only 3 of the bracelets, which looked good with the black & white dress. I didn't like it, when I tried all of them together.), http://www.express.com/pearl-and-.../index.pro. Any other necklace, bracelet, earring sets I should consider? How about individual pieces?



The extreme stretch jeans don't have a gap for me, which is one thing I really like about them. Stella & Zelda regular jeans both have a gap. I'm ordering a couple pairs of Mia jeans to try next.

Our Express store has never been really busy, when I've been in there. I didn't have to worry about holding up the line. The VS in the same mall often has a long weight though. Now that the store is processing returns, there seems to always be someone with a lot of items holding up the lines. (Someone like us, which is why I ship my returns.) Last time I left my DH in the store & went to Express. I was almost finished trying on clothes, when he got there.

You could still return the Hi-Lo dress, if you want. It's a cute dress though. I'd try the raspberry color, if I wasn't afraid the back would be too long. I don't need more black & white.

Okay what's everyone buying at Express?

I just got the High-Waist Zig Zag Banded Skirt in stone. It's basically the same color as the bottom of the green, 2-in-1 Pleated Surplice Dress. I think the color is the problem. You could see my belly button through it also. That's the first time I've ever had a skirt do that. It isn't thin by any means. I can't figure out why it shows every flaw & some flaws that aren't even there. I don't consider having a belly button a flaw. It's definitely going back, even though it was on clearance.



So far, just jeans & the strapless dress in XS. I'm probably going to order some jewelry too. We have plenty of time to find other things to buy, before the code expires. What are you ordering?

I'm very allergic to metal (even if belt buckles rub against my stomach), so I'm very excited that express has hematite! Hematite is actually a mineral, so it doesn't aggravate me. I just learned this a few weeks ago, so I'm excited to jump on the costume jewelry bandwagon (for only hematite jewelry) as well!

did you get S or XS in that banded skirt? and yes, definitely the color that's the problem. and you're right, it *should* be normal to have a belly button..... (consider the alternative : lol: )

speaking of the code, does express usually keep the same deals & steals throughout the code validity? just wondering if i should keep checking if the boatneck dress goes on sale. tho i suppose i can't even get it much cheaper than the $42 i bought it for even with this new tier, so i may as well try to exchange it for size in-store.

your dh is so cute lining up to return your vs while you shop express!!!! only in my sweetest dreams would that happen! my dh has improved about not complaining out loud, or having scrunched face, when he has to walk the stroller around the store while i shop (the new express is in an outdoor mall). though he is not complaining, he's not happy :l mao:

i'm in the express jewelry bandwagon. i like inexpensive jewelry too. i only have more expensive pieces from my mil and a few from my mom.

i like bigger pieces though, but not super big. but i won't do big earrings and big necklace at the same time. are you willing to go big? also, i think it's ok now not to matchy-matchy your pieces.

i have that skirt in stone and i haven't notice the belly button, but of course the tummy is there. i haven't really worn it yet, but i see myself wearing it with untucked top, or wearing spanx.

i have this [express.com]and worn with turquoise stretch bracelets. it is big but light. i regretted wearing it because baby kept grabbing :l ol:

eta: many times my jewelry were bought with the old $15 rewards that didn't stack with mailer and clearance.

I have Spanx for just that reason. I hate seeing my belly button too.

there is a couple of stacked rings. you can use a few or all at a time, stack on one finger or distribute.

bracelets - i don't do their round bangles, i stick with oval due to small wrists.

I just got the Caparros sandals I ordered from Amazon. They fit perfectly. Actually, they really fit too good. I like to wear foot petals in my heels, but there's no room for them. Hopefully, they'll be comfortable w/o them. A 5 1/5 would have more space between my toes & the tip of the shoe. I try to avoid that, when possible. They are really high for me. I'll have to wear them around the house to get used to them. I felt so awkward in them.

The skirt was in number sizes. I got a 2. It wasn't tight, so I don't know why it was so unflattering.

I don't know if they normally change what's on sale, but I hope so. I'm hoping for a dress code, before the code expires.

Our closest mall is an outdoor mall also. It's really easy to park in the back & run to VS & Express. They're across the street from each other. (Our mall is designed to resemble downtown city stores. There's a street with parking meters, but rarely any cars. It's mostly to create the illusion.)

That 2nd pair of earrings go really well with that turquoise bracelet. I returned it, because I didn't think I would find anything to go with it. I've read that people don't really match up their jewelry & accessories anymore. It would probably drive me crazy to be mismatched though. I'm too OCD for that. I don't look for matching sets that are sold together, but I do want them to blend well.

Post earrings don't show under my hair, so I always wear hanging earrings. They just can't be super long. Earrings that hang down too far look ridiculous on my small frame.

I immediately noticed nerdi's belly button in her pic. too. Maybe, I just have a more critical eye for things like that.

Spanx is great, if you'll wear it. I had some hanging in the closet forever, then eventually donated them. I try for a happy medium of comfort & style. For that reason, I forgo some things I really like, but know they need Spanx to look great.

aw, i'm looking at the rings now! i love stacked rings. too bad the smallest is a 6. the stacked 6 *could* fit but a 5 would be better for me.

yeah, i hate things that are not even tight and are unflattering. i should say tho - that bandage skirt on that 2 in 1 dress was pretty tight on me. i'm pretty sure the S didn't do that for me. i need an XS top and S bottom for that dress - very weird, considering i'm usually larger on top than bottom.

Which bracelets fit you? That's the only problem I have with the scroll hinge bracelet. I wish it was tighter on my wrist.
