Keep me company in the hospital :whee:

No seriously, someone keep me company, lol. They're gonna keep coming in to check on me and I'm not gonna be able to sleep anyway.

Last night I was with friends. Had a stroke type event. Ambulance came to restaurant. Started to feel better by the time they got there (they couldn't find the restaurant, lol). Went home. Now I'm at hospital. They admitted me. Ran loads of tests. Haven't found anything yet. Hurrah.

So anyway I finally got connected to the internet. Hello hello hello. Is there anybody out there? Just nod if you can heeeeear me...laugh out loud

Also no Lortabs. Blah, lol.

Has anyone suggested the possibility that it was a transient ischemic attack? If I were a betting man, that's what I'd put my money on.

Thanks! I did that and it got most of it off Smilie

I don't understand why they gave you a separate fluid pill anyway. You can get a version of Lisinopril with a fluid pill in it. That's what I take, even though my topomax dehydrates me, and even though I'm thirsty all of the time, I still retain fluid in my hands and feet. Go figure.

I'm glad you got some rest. As soon as Patrick gets back, it's you and me, friend.
Well the Lisinopril was a combo pill with hydrochlorothiazide. So they wrote me a new prescription for just the Lisinipril without the hydrochlorothiazide. That's weird that you still have fluid in your hands/feet. My mom is the same way, she has really bad issues with circulation in her feet.

And absolutely Rock

Yes. That's what the admitting Dr. put on my chart, that they were admitting me with TIA. I spoke to 3 different Drs while I was there and 2 of them said that was still a possibility but the third said it wasn't. There wasn't any evidence on the MRI or CT scan that that had happened but I read somewhere where there wouldn't be evidence of that anyway so I don't know, lol. I had never even heard of that until now.

Oh! And ok. So I went to the hospital today to get my bill. I told her I am self pay since our current insurance pays nothing for anything ever and they pay no hospital bills. It's basically just $369 a month so that we don't have a lapse in coverage because no other insurance would take us because I took depression medication 2 years ago and Patrick had skin cancer 10 years ago Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) Anyway the bill came to $16k! Argh!! The CT scan alone was 6k. They are going to do a 45% adjustment and then if I pay it in full within 10 days it's another 10% off so I'm guessing it'll be about $7.5k. My parents are paying for it and I'm paying them back over the next year. I really wish I hadn't gone. I mean I'm glad cause now I know I don't have a weird tumor or blockage in my head but at the same time they really didn't find anything. When I told my mom what happened she told me to go to the hospital and they'd pay the bill but I feel horrible. I mean I'm paying them back and that won't be a problem and they even said I didn't have to but still I feel rotten.

Your current insurance doesn't even have negotiated discounts? Even if they won't pay a dime, maybe their negotiated discounts may be less than the $7.5k.

That's pricey, but at least they are working it down some. . .Medicine is broken and unfortunately there aren't a whole lot of solutions. . .

Yeah you feel rotten as you don't want to be a burden to your parents, but think of how crappy they'd feel if the daughter they love dearly died cause she didn't go to the hospital.

Yeah it sucks, but sometimes you got to bite the bullet, and that is very kind of them to lend you the money to cover the bill.

My parents are amazing. No kidding. I thank God for them every day. Not just for this either.

Geeze I know. I'm really nervous to receive the bill in the mail because while I'm thinking I know what it should be with the deductions they said they're going to do, I won't believe it until I see it because stuff never goes terribly easy, lol. What if she meant 45% off of just the 6k CT scan and not the whole bill? I thought of that after I left. I think she meant the whole bill though.

No. My current insurance sucks. It's Transamerica and they cover nothing and do not help us out one bit with medical bills. Everyone always tells me it's horrible to have a lapse in coverage but I'm wondering if a lapse in coverage would still be better than paying about 4k a year for insurance. It's not like any insurance has accepted us anyway and even now with how they can't turn people down with past issues at the moment they can still jack up the prices so high we wouldn't be able to afford it anyway.

True. Though I feel weird because it's not like they found anything (Which I am SO happy they didn't..) but still..it was like 16k for nothing, lol.

Patrick left to go out of town for almost two weeks today for his work. (He's self employed, hence the lack of insurance). I'm kind of paranoid every time I feel a weird twinge in my jaw or I feel dizzy I'm like "AHHHHH!!!" lol. I figure that if it happens again (Which I'm 99% sure it won't) that hopefully I'll be home and I can just wait it out and know nothing bad came of it last time. The only lasting effect from this whole thing is some dizziness and spacey (shut up, lol) feeling.

I know! Even as I was typing that I was like "I'm always dizzy and spacey, how can I tell the difference? Hahahaha.." lol

I check it morning and night with one of those arm blood pressure things I got from CVS. I had gotten the wrist monitor but it always read so low and wasn't accurate at all. When I first started with all this about a month ago it was around 174/124 and then about a week ago before this all happened I ranged around 158/93 and then when this happened and the EMTs came it was 111/73. In the hospital it ranged around 120/80 and since I've left it's gone up some again but not horrible. Last reading was 134/83.
