Question
It really bothers me when black people or for that matter anyone uses the N word.
I was walking into Wal-Mart today, when I passed a group of five young black kids. All I heard was N this and you F-ing N. More then once in the short time it took me to get out of ear shot of them.
My question is if it is an offensive word for a white person to say it, what makes it less offensive for a black person to use it?
If I would have been walking past them with some of my white friends and called one of them a N In front of them, I would more then likely would have had to defend myself.

those who do not know the difference are the ignorant ones because they are the ones that get offended.
urbandictionary.com - it's in there like how bostongirl and i explained it, yo.
"nigga" is the slang for "censored" used in a friendly way amongst friends. kinda like "yo homie or hey bro"
whilst "censored" is the derogatory and offensive term op speaks of.
I'm curious how the mod staff would rule were people to begin using the word "nigga" with frequency everywhere on SD considering the position that you are in.
Do you think if either were used by say.... a white person in a position of power.... the media would correctly point out the difference?
The really educated blacks I work with never use either. I generally hear this from the youth and little educated AAs. I'm no fan of Obama, but I'd be even more disappointed with him as a person, as a husband, and as a father if he uses either in private.
That is correct.
In a court of law, I think a judge and jury would see no difference. We can debate that all day long, but they're both racially charged words.
wakadoo wakadoo
and i'd totally nominate you to be our next mod but since you don't think mr. sd listens to me, then oh wellllllll, wot can i say? oooh oooh oooh, i know! i know!! tough shit farker.
