Fall 2012 new TV shows

Yawn

The one new show that I really like (have only seen two new shows so far) is Major Crimes, they've really broken out of the old show and come up with fresh and very interesting story lines. Emily Owens M.D. looks really good (from the trailer) but doesn't air until Oct. 16.

The only shows that look remotely interesting IMHO, are Revolution (maybe, needs more than one episode to judge), Vegas (Mike Chiklis/Dennis Quaid).

Of the rest...Arrow (doesn't air until Oct.), 666 Park Avenue (maybe, interesting premise), Elementary (UK Sherlock ripoff), Last Resort (?), The Mindy Project. Yawn

So, which new shows are you still watching?

We're still watching Major Crimes, Vegas and Elementary. Haven't yet watched Emily Owens M.D., which started later than the others but do have it set to record.

Did you try Vegas? The first two episodes were a bit slow but it has really picked up now and is quite good. Same thing with Major Crimes, only the first three or four were a bit slow.

I made it as far as the first two episodes of Revolution and haven't checked out anything else.

Instead I have resorted to watching old episodes of The Rifleman, Emergency, and Bonanza on Me TV laugh out loud

Elementary is OK, not great. Nothing else on at that time so might as well watch but I wouldn't miss it if it were cancelled.
Last Resort is on right now. Not really watching it, but again there's really nothing else on. I really can not get interested in the show. Very tempted to turn to re-runs of ALF.
Revolution is losing me too, probably will switch back to Hawaii 5-0.
Can't get interested in Arrow either.
Those are all the new shows I've tried. Glad to see The Walking Dead return, so far season 3 almost makes me forget how crappy season 2 was.

Check out Vegas, since you like The Rifleman and Bonanza, you'll probably like it. The show is set in Vegas in 1960 with a reluctant Nevada rancher (Denis Quaid) brought in as sheriff after the mob had the previous sheriff killed.

I gave up after two episodes, but, FINE, I'll try at least one more.

It's in its second season, but if people aren't watching Homeland, might want to check it out. I didn't notice it until a few months ago.

[Doctor Who]
They're not all slapstick and campy, there are some really serious and very good episodes. Can't be serious and scary all the time, a little camp breaks up the show some. And until you get to David Tennet you haven't seen the best of the show. nod
There's a Tennant episode, I think it's the one where he battles the devil, (yes, that devil, I think, maybe), that is chained inside a planet. He then goes after the immortals who put him in that situation... the segment is such a small part of the episode, but, man, they should show The Doctor being a badass more often.

I started writing a longer description but figured that part would be on Youtube. Sure enough:

Not a new show but the new season of Gold Rush started tonight.

With the money the Hoffmans spent on new equipment this year I could probably retire comfortably. laugh out loud Looks like it could be another interesting season though.

Alright, my final verdicts:

Revolution - a keeper. I like what they are doing. I'll be sad to see it cancelled as big budget shows like this rarely last. It could be the next West Wing in regards to longevity.

666 Park Avenue - a keeper. It's an eery story arch with a lot of potential but my feeling is, where is it going? Is it one long drawn out "we do the devil's work" kind of story or is it concise Stephen King type story that only is designed to last about 2-3 years? I don't know but like the stories so far.

Last Resort - a keeper. I'm enthralled by this show with only one question. How long can they be stranded on an island that isn't mysterious (Lost) and that isn't filled with fantasy (Fantasy Island)? I can't see this show going more than than 2-3 seasons, much like 666 Park Avenue as both have a finite storyline IF they don't fluff it to high hell.

Tried - Guys with Kids, Animal Practice, and See Dad Run - all fails. The latter most my wife digs, I find it derivative Nick crap.

Never tried - Vegas. Just not enough time on the DVR and not going to On Demand. Will catch this during the summer as we usually don't have anything of interest to watch then unless we go back to old TV shows we were curious about.

Not watching Vegas is a mistake, it's the best of all the new shows this year. In fact, it's better than a lot of the retuning shows too.

I stopped watching Last Resort but hadn't deleted the unwatched shows yet. So with nothing to do the other day, watched one more and was hooked. Saved them so DH can catch up too.

Revolution, still watching but still not sure where they're going with it. Dontknow

Our DVR is crowded on that day. Alas something had to give but we'll wait and catch up with Vegas in the summer either with DVD rentals or various other streaming sites. By season 2 we'll be caught up.

DH?
