Tablet for a 9 year old?

I'm not sure where to post this...so I hope I chose the correct forum. I am looking to get my son a tablet for Christmas. The thing is I have no idea at what tablet to even start looking at. I would like it to be below $300.00. He will use it mainly for playing games and watching tv or movies. I would like to be able to download a lot of movies so we can get rid of the old portable dvd player and dvd case when taking long car trips.
Essentially I want it to replace the whole DVD issue as they are a hassle in the car and keep him from always draining my battery on my Evo. We don't need to download books as we have a kindle.
If it could stream netflix that would be great too.
I appreciate any suggestions....I have been looking at the google nexus tablet but am not sure if it's the best tablet for my son as I want to download a lot of movies.

Honestly I was actually thinking about getting him a paper tablet. Have you ever seen the Jimmy Kimmel videos of the children getting the bad xmas presents and their parents filming them?
I could just picture it...."but you said you wanted a tablet... so I got you a tablet" lol. I don't think I could film him though...

Pretty sweet deal for $60, Now if I only had someone I liked enough to buy one for.
Pretty sweet deal for $60,
Watched a review on youtube and it does seem pretty solid. How is this not a front page deal @ $60?
This one-
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...Q/ref=fs_2
She loads it with apps for her fav games, ebooks, and music. I use it to surf and check email.
She has an Ipod but it collects dust since she got her Fire.
Amazon movies, streaming or download and view later, are free for prime members, so I canceled my netflix acct.
We put an Otter Box type case (40-50 bucks more) on it and know matter how responsible I'd never hand a kid one without it.

She said she wanted an ipad!
I say get the one Aggie posted. That's really good for the price. Personally, I wouldn't invest too much for a kid that age when it comes to electronics. Just in case something happened.
