Tablet for a 9 year old?

I'm not sure where to post this...so I hope I chose the correct forum. I am looking to get my son a tablet for Christmas. The thing is I have no idea at what tablet to even start looking at. I would like it to be below $300.00. He will use it mainly for playing games and watching tv or movies. I would like to be able to download a lot of movies so we can get rid of the old portable dvd player and dvd case when taking long car trips.

Essentially I want it to replace the whole DVD issue as they are a hassle in the car and keep him from always draining my battery on my Evo. We don't need to download books as we have a kindle.

If it could stream netflix that would be great too.

I appreciate any suggestions....I have been looking at the google nexus tablet but am not sure if it's the best tablet for my son as I want to download a lot of movies.

So did I. I'm going to laugh my butt off if they ship it after I told them to cancel. Mine weren't order status, but advised me that there was a "ticket #" for my order. Whatever that means.

Dontknow It's my first chargeback. Girly I started the process with Google Wallet yesterday and called the bank when I did the math and realized I was up against 60 days. Didn't know if it was a deadline I was going to miss, so I called them. They said it wouldn't mess things up to deal directly with them so I went with it.

I did a chargeback with both GoogleWallet and my credit card.

They both gave me a credit for the total amount. I wonder how long before they catch that? laugh out loud

Because you can get one for cheaper than a Nintendo DS or something like that and do A LOT more with it. That's why.... or at least that's why I am getting my son one
