I have a grandmother like that, too. She says horrible, horrible things to people. 3 out of 4 children aren't even speaking her, just to give you an idea of just how horrible.

She is nicer now that I don't live near her, though. I don't know why. I still don't talk to her for years at a time. Do you live close to your Gram?

Soooo true. It's interesting- the more spiritual paths or programs I learn about, the more similarities I can identify between them all.

Yeah moms the sweetest person alive, and she's naturally good natured. I think gram hurts her, but she won't admit it and makes excuses for her. She's old, blah blah. Advanced Age doesn't give a person carte Blanche to be insulting.

Aww I'm sorry Wiles. I've been there and it's a tough spot. I get your mindset about how you try to be nice to her because she's old and won't be around forever, but at the same time is letting her make you feel like shit really the best option? The truth is that when she does go you're going to carry guilt over the relationship even if you did everything right that you could because the relationship isn't good and when she's gone you're left holding the bag. You're only one half and can only meet her halfway... if she won't make that same effort, there comes a point where you have to stop putting yourself out there to be "punched." You deserve better than that. Try to stand up for yourself and tell her when she hurts you... even if she gets hurt in the process, the end result could be a better relationship for both of you. Easier said than done though, I know. hug

Facebook sucks. I think social networking was one of the worst things to happen to the internet. Who the fark cares if I'm heading out to Walgreens or just got done washing my dishes or changing my relationship status from married to single to it's complicated 10x a day?
