At the time he was born, he was the second largest child the hospital had EVER seen. Natural childbirth, as one pain in the middle of the night and her water broke. In less than 2 hours, he was here... GRAVITY.
A friend of mine gained 60 lbs. and her baby was definitely on the large side. It's strange now non-standardized pre-natal care can be on this matter. When my friend told me that she had gained all that weight, she said that they hadn't even been weighing her, and finally she had to bring it up to her doctor who was kind of like
Meanwhile, I had to step on the scale first thing at every visit, and my weight was evaluated and loudly discussed among at least two nurses and my midwife each time. I remember one visit, right after I came back from Europe, I had gained more weight than usual and like four people were discussing it. I had to go into the bathroom and cry.
After my first dd was born - 9.8 lbs, 22 inches - I weighed 8 lbs less than before I was pregnant (and I ate like a horse) post partum.
After 2nd DD - 7lbs 7 oz, 21 1/2 inches - I weighed 5 lbs more than pre-pregnancy 2 weeks post partum.
I think pregnancy weight gain was around 35ish pounds for each.

ETA---you're not feeding a lemur and a fennec fox dog and cat food, are you? I'm no expert, but that wouldn't seem like it would work. Don't they have special food, like Lemur Chow?
2 yrs later I am still up 30lbs..
