This thread is being created so people -- generally, those people who can't seem to resist talking about off-topic junk in the Target coupon thread -- have a place to talk about shopping at Target and other miscellaneous matters.

All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

I almost passed out. They all got flu vaccines on Monday! WTF?

Ok, he got his flu vaccine on Monday. All 4 kids did, but the 2 oldest got the FluMist (it goes up your nose)
Well his health has deteriorated each day and yesterday he began vomiting. I thought it may be just a bug. Took him to the ER today for lots of tests.
So they do urine tests, xrays, blood tests, tested his liver and pancreas and hooked him up to an IV. The problem with the flu test is that they swab your nose. Well with him having the FluMist, any test he takes will give us a positive answer. He may have had a mutated form of it already and the flu vaccine brought it out.

Apparently there are mild cases of the swine flu where children only need antiviral meds and time. WHATEVER! All I heard was swine flu and I went nuts. Anyway its not as bad as the tv makes it out to be. My other kids probably wont get it. He may have had a mutated form in him before his flu vaccine and it is running its course.
hug Hope he feels better soon! Yeah, that can totally happen. . esp. if they vaccinate with a "live" version of the vaccine. You can end up getting the illness you are trying to prevent. Frown

I think the definition of "sleeping through the night" at this age is 5 hours...yeah what the fark ever. We are jumping for joy with 3.5 to 4.

I looked this up because LJ is not a good napper. We consider 1.5 hours a long nap and he napped for 2 and 2.5 hours today. He's had gunk in his eye this week and is now stuffy. I called this morning and normally they would just write the scrip for eye drops over the phone but since he is also stuffy they want to see him to check out his eyes. Poor little fella woke up from his afternoon nap screaming. I'm changing his dirty diaper and he is still screaming with his eyes shut. I get him changed and normally if he is crying he's done by now. Well he has one eye open and is still screaming. I look at him closely and notice his right eye was "gunked" shut. OMG I ran so fast to the bathroom for a warm wash cloth and the water couldn't get warm fast enough. I get back to the room and start to clean his eye and start Crying2 with him. Once that was done and he nursed he was the happy little baby we know and love. Took his temp and he's not running a fever. Seems that he did catch some crud from big sis after all. Sadwalk

Still makes me Cold
Comfort

Pray that he gets well soon.

DH and I are still debating on whether or not to get the flu shot. In the past when we had received it we have gotten sick.

Yeah, my babeh boy is not feeling well, he's yawning and putting his hands on his eyes. Poor lil guy. Sneezing more than usual as well.

To be honest, they didnt make a big deal about it at the ER. I took a mask with me and made him wear it. Both for his health (as he was obviously weakened) and others.
There are different strains of swine flu and the latest strain is no more harmful than what we consider the average flu.
The only difference is that we have not had the chance to build up an immunity to it. The doc sent him home with Tamiflu and something for nausea. He seems to be feeling better already. His tummy still hurts though.

We couldn't get a 100% positive to report to CDC because of his Flumist on Monday.

So many different people tell you different things...I gets overwhelming.

Hoping LJ feels better hug

New story tonight...

Went to ST.
Applied some of the lessons I learned.
Everything I tried on fit like a glove.
Found some good marked down foodstuffs.
The end.

I have a question... I noticed that on my receipt one of my packs of ribs was double scanned - it was 8.09!! Would you go back and try to get the $$ back? Is it easy to do on something like this if you don't notice until after you left? Or, is that another one of those lessons I learned today?

Call the store and let them know. They should trust that your integrity is worth more than $8.09. I would try to get it back or at least get another pack of ribs. You know how much $8.09 can get at T. Teehee

Whether you gained or lost weight High Five congrats!

Hope he feels better soon. Why did he get the mist instead of the shot? He probably got a mild case of the flu from the mist since it's a live virus. If that's the case, it wont last long or be severe. Hopefully he'll be better in a day or two.

Ugh. This sucks.

On a related note - I got to schedule my c-section today. November 6th - 9am. Easier than making a hair apt. Now for the super-sucky-enough-to-send-a-pregnant-woman-into-a-meltdown-news apparently ALL the hospitals around here, including the one I'm going to deliver at have instituted a NO KIDS policy on the maternity floors thanks to H1N1. So DS won't be able to come and visit me in the hospital. Makes me tear up just typing it.

Oh and I LOVE LOVE LOVE everyone's "tales from T" stories. I have been neglecting T all week because I'm having an affair with K. My story would go something like this...

Went to K.
Used a crapload of Qs.
Got a ton of stuff for free.
Put it all in the trunk of my car.
Went in and did it again.
And again.
And again.

OMG....I just got my reg flu shot wednesday, but I have 3 kids in 3 different schools! Thats like 1000 kids Im coming in contact with everyday. This is the only thing I am freaking out about with this baby coming. I dont even have a hospital bag packed and I only have 18 days left.

Oh that sucks! some of the best pic/memories are of the other kiddies coming to see and hold the new baby. I hope my hospital hasnt done this too.

I talked to my OB about scheduling an induction on my due date / birthday because I really want her here on that day, turns out to be a Monday - which is a good day for the docs and all. Now I just need to make it until then. My 1st was 5 days late, 2nd was 4 days early, 3rd was - crap - i dont remember Teehee and #4 was a trouble maker and was induced 3 weeks early, this is my 1st NON-highrisk pregnancy even though I had placenta previa which moved into low laying placenta...so not only am I holding out for the perfect date but that after having natural birth 4 times, that I wont need a C-section!

Thanks Teri. hug We honestly have no idea and they told me to treat it like the "regular" flu.

I actually thought about about this. Too bad his such a HUGE kid. I don't even know if DH could carry him in a duffel bag! laugh out loud

And the good thing is that my nephew can't come to the hospital. He's ALWAYS sick. So I'm looking at that as the bright side.
