RETIRED Marlboro Outwit the West Funny Farm

228 92 October 16, 2010 at 01:35 PM
Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

We took down our tree this weekend, which is a bit early for us. The tree was in good shape and was still drinking water.. Most of the other decorations are now in the attic. I just need to pack up the wrapping paper, bows, etc, and return one present.

Yesterday, my husband and I signed up to exercise at a brand new health facility that is geared toward seniors. It cost nothing for the first year. There are lots of machines with a small walking track surrounding the machines and lots of big windows. Some of the machines have Google on them and iPod hookups, but I didn't explore that yet. There is also a small pool with some kind of walking apparatus in it, plus a sauna. You can schedule massages, but that costs about $30 an hour. It's only about 2 1/2 miles from our house with little traffic. We're planning to go there together about three times a week. I might go by myself, too, when I can pull myself away from the computer.

I appreciate all the links and glad to see a few post New Year's wins.

I ran across this site earlier today. Shows some of the over-50 women who were big several years ago. I found it interesting.

Thanks for the good advice. Today was our first day and we mainly explored. Just figuring out how to adjust the machines is a biggy. The first machine I used was for leg curls. I need to strengthen muscles that will help my knees. Losing weight and toning would be nice, too. My husband's point of concentration is his hip.

I feel really good right now. I needed to go to Sams a bit ago to return a Christmas present. I noticed when I was climbing our 60 some outside steps that my knees felt better than they did yesterday. I really don't think I overdid myself. At least I hope not.

Sounds GREAT! I usually feel it a little the day after and a LOT more on the 2nd day. But if I keep up the workouts at least every other day, I feel better and better.

BTW, I forgot in my last post:

Good Luck to all!

I get the flu shot yearly never thought this would happen. I have that bad strain of flu. I can jus bout clean my emails and then I hav to lie down again. I could fall asleep just walking or sitting here. Gave me a bunch of medicine.

It wasn't bad at all Jak. Plus, most of the people there were over 50. The place where I worked before I retired had an exercise facility, but I spent all my time working. It wasn't a perk for retirees. I'm kinda excited about it. Plus, it is something my H and I can do together. Then we can come home and he will be tired and let me sit at the computer without getting too upset with me. It will also help get us in shape for our trip to Florida. We always do a lot of walking when we are there.

Drink lots of liquids. Take extra C. Rest. I'll have to read up about this bad strain. Hope it doesn't come near me.
