i'm sure it is both, but it's a little scary that you've shaped your body using clothing. it's along the lines of how people used to bind their feet in china to make them smaller. the thought really scares me. my great grandmother had bound feet and i detested the idea.

i listed it when it was free for fixed price listing. i had no idea they would start charging every 30 days! oh well.


it was a fixed price sale when i listed all these items so i wasn't charged when i lsited. i feel like they should have told me that i'd be charged if it doesn't sell in 30 days. i also think that this is a new policy, bc i don't recall seeing it on my invoice before.

oh well. i will delist them this month if they don't sell. i haven't been actively ebaying for a long time.

Also, what if I ordered the item online..they can still lookup and see the coupon?

Oh...hm..interesting. I got a fixed price listing free for items up to 30 days. I don't plan on relisting it for 30 days again until I get it free. I will let you know if I end up getting charged. I've never been charged on Fixed Price listings up to 10 days, but this was the first time I was offered 30 days.

That may be true, but everyone in my generation did it. It was the style. We tend to try to dress stylish when we're young, regardless of what that means we wear. We all know some styles/trends should never have been introduced. IMO, waistline pants weren't one of them, but there were many trends from my youth that should never be repeated. Sadly, I keep seeing them come back around.

I didn't know VS Birthday codes don't work on clearance. What the heck am I supposed to buy with this dumb code on the website now? Practically everything is clearance.

i know i've always said that i prefer food favors over other kinds, like coasters or useless items. my favorite may still be the krispy kreme donuts. my least favorite was a little turtle trinket, until i discovered that it was a magnet. then it became more useful bc at least i could put stuff up on the fridge with it.

we have gotten photo coasters with the couple's photos in them. i think those are neat in theory but awful in execution bc i really don't like having photos of others on my coffee table.

i love your sand dollar idea, but i would also classify that as a useless trinket. it definitely depends on your guests, but maybe you could do a little DIYing and attach a tiny magnet to the back of it so people can put it up on the fridge or something? otherwise, i can see ppl tossing them.

i was going to do a candy bar also, but i didn't get around to it at the last minute. i don't think it was missed anyhow, but it's possible ppl would have liked it. who knows...

That has just been my experience. Most people take favors with them, so I've never heard any complaints about it being too sticky or messy. I know for me personally I'd rather have something perishable. Someone will eat it.

I agree with nerdi that most trinkets are left of thrown away. I totally agree about things containing the bride & grooms pic or monogram too. The only people who want that are immediate family members.

Sand dollars are a cute idea. Are you planning to gather or buy them? If you're going to gather them, make sure you have plenty of time to bleach them. Nerdi had a great idea to make magnets out of them. I don't know when your wedding will be. If you're getting married in the fall, you could tie ribbon on them & make Christmas ornaments. Painting the ornaments would be cute, if you or someone you know paints. JMO, but I think it needs to be more than just a sand dollar to make people want to take & keep it. In the end, you should give what you want to. Most people won't be rude enough to say something negative or throw them away right in front of you. Then again, if the guests at the other wedding were complaining, they may. You know your guests best. Do what you want.

maybe they had specials for 30 day fixed price free to encourage some people to list. they have user-specific promos it seems. i've only been able to get 10-day.

Those do sound like great favors. IME, people also like a variety they can choose from to make up their own gift & put it in a bag. Candy tables are always a huge hit. If your friend wants to make something, baking a variety of items in large batches to allow the guests to choose from may have been easier. She could have provided boxes instead of bags. I know she isn't up for suggestions at the moment. She may change her mind, when the wedding is a week away & she still has all those brownie mugs to make. If the mugs are nice, that will be a good favor for adults in itself though. Unfortunately, it seems the majority of favors are left. I think candy tables are the only thing I've ever seen wiped out.

anastaciab just said that the brownies in a mug are notorious for exploding. I'm actually hoping for this to happen! Especially the ones I make! My desire for her wedding to go right is starting to wane....I will say I'm just going to bask in the trainwreck. Looks like no one else has responded to her second insane email except for me. If you happen to come across more cheap dress, please do let me know.
Hm....I'm not quite sure which she's doing because she's mentioned both The explosions sound terrific. Maybe this will help her rethink what a B! she's being!
Those jar favors look really really cute, but I know she won't go for it. She doesn't accept anything outside of her ideas. It's just that they all look really messy and not very put together at all. She's going for a "rusty but elegant" look and I can see how these fit in. ha! Would be funny if the explosions added a little something to the rustic element. I'm prepared for the wedding from hell!

You may be right about genetics, but I think the jeans had something to do with it too. Did your mom wear super tight jeans? We had to lie down on the bed to zip ours. Sometimes, we had to help friends zip theirs, even though they were lying down. I think our formed waistline was aided by the jeans being so tight at the waist. I know none of my nieces have a defined waist. Obviously, they have similar genetics to ours. None of my nephew's wives/girlfriends have a defined waist either. Conversely, all my friends growing up had a defined waist, but weren't related. Naturally, some had more of a defined waist than others, but all had an obvious waistline. That just seems to be more than coincidence to me. We also had really flat stomachs. Our jeans were so tight they must have trained our stomach to be flat. I've noticed even the most toned women don't have a stomach as flat as ours was. Maybe I need to go back to jeans so tight I have to lie down to zip them to get rid of my belly fat. Genetics plays a factor in everything concerning our bodies. I think environment also comes into play. If your mom didn't wear super tight jeans, her waist wouldn't have been cinched in that much. Some people wouldn't have a defined waist no matter what. I think clothing does play a role though. I'd be curious to know how many people who grew up wearing low cut jeans have an obviously defined waist. That would be a good indicator. If there's no connection, it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong. It just seems like there is to me.

I will have to go back to the drawing board then! I also like useful things, but I also like strange keepsakes. At first I was thinking a tealight, but that seems useless and so impersonal. I haven't been to many weddings and the ones I've been to were either no favors or some candy as favors. So there must be a rhyme/reason as to why.

I'm not much of a DIY person, but magnet idea is cool! I thought about ropping a string through it like GH said, but I'll have to see. I might go the way of food then. Personalized M&Ms or something cute. Definitely no candy table for me. I don't support all that candy and sweets.

I was really hoping to have $0 OOP for favors. I was going to gather them already sundried. Illegal to gather live ones. I thought about stringing something to them, but the ones I do have, I don't see holes in them. I wouldn't think of drilling holes or painting anything from nature.

So I will have to rethink! Future wedding will be in the summer. Maybe August time frame? I was thinking a small box of chocolates for something gourmet, but that's going to end up costing too much. Or hiring cake pops to be made NOT by BMs!

Yeah, this was user specific. I hope I don't get charged for not selling, but time will tell...in a month or so.

the flip flops (250 pairs, i only did the women) and the cards 450 decks were wiped out completly, im glad i had saved a few at home, we had about 10 coozies left and i only got 300 of those.

my favors ended up costing me about $10 oop total. we did personalized chocolate bars and i wrapped them myself (designed the wrapper myself also). the only thing i had to buy was the foil to wrap them (bought a box of foil from sally's) - a friend worked for nestle and got me the chocolate for free, and i had DH print the wrappers at his work on his color printer. i thought it was the cutest idea, but i didn't actually hear anything from anyone about them other than my mom so perhaps they weren't as well-received as i had anticipated. it's ok tho - DH loves chocolate so it was quite fitting. we had to change our plans though - we had originally thought we'd just leave them on the tables for the guests, but quickly realized that wouldn't work since our reception was outdoors and it was extremely hot in september so they would have melted very fast. instead we ended up making them the placement cards as well as the favors - i separately printed each wrapper with a name and table #. it was good that we had a small guest list.

i love the ornament idea, but that really depends on how many ppl on your guest list has christmas trees, otherwise it also ends up being a trinket that will likely be hung somewhere for awhile and then tossed. i think people tend to get trees when they get older and have kids.

Cards definitely sound like fun! I guess I will have to take into consideration the type of people at my future wedding for favors or do generic food.

So the dresses we're trying to find is to be a purple, but the blue-ish purplenot the pinkish purple. [gap.com]
It's to be short, at knee or barely above knee, like 2 inches max. Must have straps of some sort. Like this VS dress [victoriassecret.com]. Color, fit, and style. She acted too slow and our sizes in purple went OOS. Price point under $100. BMs are super super super cheap.

I've checked Kohl's, Macy's, j Crew, Nordies, and nothing came up. Looking at specailty retailers tends to be cheaper than BM shops, which we probably all passed the 4 months in advance or something for a BM dress order unless it's off the rack. She keeps wanting to do this dress, but no BM likes it [davidsbridal.com], but wants us to hem it. This will be our backup dress in the Lapis color. Which will look funny if hemmed and will look like a tent. In the end, I won't care if I wear this dress, but tea length is a no-go.
Lace is okay. She just wants the dress to look like wedding material. Last two dresses suggested by BMzilla were busts! If she only too my advice and went for the VS dress immediately

That's lame....so what if you gave someone Express items as gifts and she wanted to take them back to the store. Would they ask her to exchange on the spot, or give her a store credit?

their policy now is exchange only for no receipts. few years ago, they do store credit. i think exchange only is what happened to hba - store credit to be used the same day. it's not store credit per se, you (or they) hold on to your merchandise until you find your replacement, and they process in one transaction.

my issue with that one time i did that, is when i wanted to replace the replacement the receipt is special because it says exchange only. for that transaction, the minimum purchase for coupons apply only after the original amount. say you're replacing a $30 item in an exchange only receipt for a $45 purchase, the $15 off $30 coupon won't apply because it is counting as a $15 purchase only.

Sounds like yours was really really cute! Mine will be held in doors for sure. Great change of plans idea. Looks like a lot of things end up changing and being flexible is key. You were probably too busy being the life of the party and anything edible is great, right?
