my favors ended up costing me about $10 oop total. we did personalized chocolate bars and i wrapped them myself (designed the wrapper myself also). the only thing i had to buy was the foil to wrap them (bought a box of foil from sally's) - a friend worked for nestle and got me the chocolate for free, and i had DH print the wrappers at his work on his color printer. i thought it was the cutest idea, but i didn't actually hear anything from anyone about them other than my mom so perhaps they weren't as well-received as i had anticipated. it's ok tho - DH loves chocolate so it was quite fitting. we had to change our plans though - we had originally thought we'd just leave them on the tables for the guests, but quickly realized that wouldn't work since our reception was outdoors and it was extremely hot in september so they would have melted very fast. instead we ended up making them the placement cards as well as the favors - i separately printed each wrapper with a name and table #. it was good that we had a small guest list.

the flip flops (250 pairs, i only did the women) and the cards 450 decks were wiped out completly, im glad i had saved a few at home, we had about 10 coozies left and i only got 300 of those.

maybe you could forward her the link and ask if this is what shes talking about because you dont understand? also run by me what kind of dress im supposed to be looking for. I missed the details and just saw purple

we did a desert bar with candy but we didnt put out boxes for people to take things.. it was a take it now or dont take it, people ate everything but dh's grooms cake. pics at bottom , i picked out and did everything myself, with minimal help from the wedding planner/ decorator my mom hired. I was pleased with the results, and candy.com ships with shoprunner or they did in may so it wasnt to hard at the last minute

yeah, i know people don't care much for favors but i really wanted to make something. i just knew i didn't want to spend $500 on favors that people may just throw away.

in retrospect the only thing i regret was paying for flowers. i wish i had figured out a way to make my centerpieces. my DH was adamant that i not put so much stress on myself the week before though (he ended up making me do the slide show anyway, which was very stressful) so we paid to have centerpieces done. though i suppose there were some things i don't think i could have decorated myself, like the bridge.

There may be hope yet for that tea length dress! For David's Bridal sizes, three of us are size 2, and one is a size 8. She's not chubby, but just doesn't have a figure.

Bridezilla already looked at the Amazon dresses. She made some suggestions but BMzilla shot it all down.

For the Dessy Dresses, do you know the approximate price point? There are some cute dresses for sure

for dessy they are $$$ but could be had if you found them on sale for under $100. HAve you all been sized at DB? because i wear a 6/8 in every dress on the planet, but my wedding dress from them was a 14 the sales lady told me that they were sized really small when we walked in, i wasnt expecting that small. If you all could find a pretty embellished sash you might be able to make it look cute. Also if the bride registers there, you should get 10-20 off your purchase for the bridal party.

I don't know about DB sizes. Bridezilla got her dress there and she usually isn't a 00, even a size 0 dress fell off her. She's even got to get the 0 or 00 dress she got tailored and taken in.

Good to know about the discounts! I really liked the couple dresses we tried on there. I suspect that BMzilla had problems with it, or was upset that I looked better in it than she did and told Bridezilla. I just wanted to get the dresses that day too. Ugh!

I'm not much of a DIY person, but magnet idea is cool! I thought about ropping a string through it like GH said, but I'll have to see. I might go the way of food then. Personalized M&Ms or something cute. Definitely no candy table for me. I don't support all that candy and sweets.

I might be the minority here, but I love low rise jeans! They fit me well. I can't stand high waist jeans. Seems like I can't breathe (but I love wearing corsets :craz y. However, with the size figure chart thing that nerdi sent along some time ago, I have an hourglass shape and my waist is 10 inches smaller than my shoulders and hips. So I do have a defined waist. It's only harder to tell unless I'm in a dress that's kind of bandage like or clings in all the right areas to see my waist. And it's small. Sometimes it surprises me too. I still want to lose 3 more inches off my waist though! Ugh :e ek: I'm comfortable in my jeans and too lazy to want to show off my waist unless I'm in a dress. :lo l:

I really think that what people eat nowadays also play a role as much as genetics do. I think my mom used to have a small waist too. She was in a lot of dresses in her pictures, but with lots of prints, so it's hard to tell. But anyway, in a sense, I'm glad that the "supersize me" culture is drawing to a close, hopefully for good. And that people will have the sense to move away towards that and to something healthier.

i love the ornament idea, but that really depends on how many ppl on your guest list has christmas trees, otherwise it also ends up being a trinket that will likely be hung somewhere for awhile and then tossed. i think people tend to get trees when they get older and have kids.

I just got quite a few Express orders. One was supposed to be one of the cheap tops, but I received a black peplum dress in size 12 instead. I think it was this style. http://www.express.com/ponte-knit...crumb=true I'd rather have a $5 top than an $80 dress I can't wear. That's another exchange to deal with. I was trying to get away from returns/exchanges there.

By the way, your poor GM. That sounds painful, but I guess they got used to it. I can't imagine preferring small feet. I would have liked to stretch my feet & height, if I could have. It must be easier to find small shoes for women in Asia.

The only thing that changed, when I had my DS, is I started using an artificial tree. I was afraid a live tree would start a fire. Plus, when he was very young, I only put things he could safely eat on the bottom limbs. That was safer than ornaments.

On 2nd thought, I remember listening to the story of the Monkey King in China at Epcot one Christmas. If I remember correctly, most Asians don't even celebrate Christmas. Do those of Asian descent living in America usually celebrate? If they don't, ornaments definitely wouldn't be a good idea. I hadn't thought of that.

well be careful on the timing, the dresses we ordered took 12 weeks to come in, and they woulnt schedule alterations until the dresses were in the store. WE cut it really really close (as in they picked up their final fitted dresses thurs for the sat wedding)

It depends on what you get used to. I think higher waist pants are much more comfortable. It seems like I have to constantly tug at low cut pants to keep them up. To me, waist cut pants are perfect. It's a generational thing, & I'm old here. I'm sure most of you agree on the topic.

Of course, there are negatives to having a defined waist. It makes my stomach look even bigger. :facepal m2:

i think it depends on the designer as well. the DB brand is sized a bit smaller than others. when i was trying on wedding dresses i would fit into the DB brand 4 but it was made for ppl with different proportions than me (otherwise saying it looked horrible and was snug in the wrong places). 6 would have had to be taken in but would have fit right in some places.

the vera wang line on the other hand i was almost a perfect 4 when i was trying them on. i also fit into the 2 in some styles and would be more like a 2 now i think (i've lost a little weight since i was trying dresses). those dresses fit my proportions MUCH better.

as for BM dresses, i didn't try any on so i don't know. as long as you try them and they fit... but for good measure it's probably best to try on a few different styles, as there could be discrepancy in their sizing.

We actually don't celebrate Christmas. I don't really care for Christmas Seems like younger generation might? Not sure because my friends don't care about Christmas. I just think generally young people these days tend to be bulbous because they don't care. Maybe the looser fitting clothes is also a reason. They may not know what they're missing because their clothes don't carry any shape.

I met DH on forum site like this 5+ years ago. It was a technical forum and we used to discuss the .Net technology questions on there when it was really new with the dating or meeting him the last thing on my mind. But later we both just clicked once we started emailing etc....Now when I think I feel it was much better than actually trying to find someone on dating site and worry about end up meeting some creepy people. Really? Is food/candy really what people usually take? Hm....might have to rethink my future favors. I know when I went to a wedding in July, macaroons were the favors and I know a couple of people commented about how sweets suck as favors and sticks to teeth. These would be the same people invited to my future wedding. I was think of using stuff from the sea that represents CA and me. Like sand dollars or something. Easy on my end, bonding time with DBF to go hunt for and it matches with beach theme! Plus some of these people are not local, so it may be useless, but cool!
