I'm a boring dresser also. My closet & drawers are full of solid color tops. None of my pants/jeans have patterns. They're pretty much all blue or black. Dark brown is on my "to buy" list, but I haven't found any I like. I did buy quite a few dresses last year. Unfortunately, I was very predictable in the ones I kept. All but one of them is made similarly. They're a solid color or have a black bottom & single color top. The one that broke the pattern was a tropical print that I bought for our cruise embarkation only. I changed before dinner. Facepalm My wardrobe isn't quite as boring in summer. I wear shorts of varying solid colors. For some reason, I can't make myself wear purple, red, green, etc. pants. Dontknow I tried with purple, because I love the color. They weren't even worn once. I ended up donating them. Before I met these girls, I wouldn't wear costume jewelry. Maybe they can eventually convince me to dress a little more trendy. Clothes would be more fun.
You sound like me! Except, I have lots of colors, just not neon colors. I always opt for at least one item in black, but then in the summer, I ask myself why I have so many summery black colored tops. shake head All my dresses are solid colored and single colored. Maybe they'll be color blocked or something, but that's also a rarity!

You probably need to find the right shade of purple. Some purple I look great in, others I look deathly.

I just don't like costume jewelry because it's a waste of money. They all tarnish, so I'm better off getting the real deal nod

nod they have some great deals on flowy comfy stuff. i used to comb their clearance racks but this was before i had a full time job, when i was in grad school. there were many targets between school and home and i'd stop by many of them. Smilie i got some amazing deals on a lot of stuff by combing clearance, but it is very time consuming.

I agree - it's about making what looks good on your body!
shake head leggings make me look very funny. my legs need to be uncovered for them to look nice, for some reason. laugh out loud i have large upper thighs and large calves, but thin lower thighs and thin ankles. my legs are too curvy for their own good! laugh out loud

I LOVE making something cheap look good! It's such a great feeling.

Leggings really are too comfy. I buy tons of them because I'm still looking for a pair that are thick enough for our winters up here. I do always wear them with tunic length pieces and I either send back the thin ones I buy or I wear them under things when it is super cold.

Do any of you guys live near NYC? I feel like I'm the only one over here when everyone is talking about what's left in their local VS and Express stores.:lol
I wish express still had the cashmere blend ones on their site. They were made of sweater material. I have the black and the grey. I found the black in XS at the mall a few days ago and bought a second pair, even though I would have preferred the small. They look and feel like soft sweaters Smilie

Were you able to use my free shipping code in time to get the 20% off clearance item? I felt bad PMing you so late. I really hope you could use it.

express has some leggings that are pretty thick. there was a grey pair that has a seam down the back. i haven't returned mine yet - i paid $21 for them and it just seems like too much considering i don't wear leggings that often. they're in clearance now but i think i saw some in my store.

hba lives nearby but in the burbs. i thought liggy was on long island hence her name... but i could be wrong.

It's always good for clothes to launder well for sure nod I like them short shorts. Actually, I only wear jean shorts. Matches with all the daily tees and tanks and camis.

I definitely don't like Guess anymore. But Bebe I still like, especially their nice dresses and suits, but that's about it. I don't wear anything else from there.

That is so mean and hurtful! I can't believe someone would have the gall to say that in front of someone else! I love clothes too! Even though my style may be plain. I have plenty of opportunities to dress up a little when I go out, but I just don't because I'm lazy. And when I DO dress up, I'm the most overdressed of my friends. This is just like nice jeans, sweater, and a coat.

But definitely don't let it depress you. Maybe it'll help you work your way getting your life to that way to eventually wear all the pretty clothes!

I had literally never met that girl either and since I'm super nice to strangers I know I hadn't offended her.

I used to be the over dressed one all the time too.laugh out loud But by over dressed I mean not naked enough and dressed too maturely for the crowd I was with.

I just wear whatever I see that appeals to me.

And don't worry I don't let comments depress me any more. Other than needing to shape up, I like myself enough not to let those things sting for more than a minute.

I have sweater ones from VS from a long time ago. I love those things! I'm going to have to go look in Express to see if they still have any.

I used the free shipping code to get jeans. bounce You actually picked the perfect time to pm me because my size had been out of stock for days and a pair had just popped up! They shipped yesterday.

Be careful what you ask for. Wink My sisters dress more trendy than I. When they buy me clothes, I pretend to love them, then put them in the back of my closet to never be worn. If they redid my whole closet, I'd go naked. laugh out loud

Quote from Cheapeats :

Some of it has to do with the fact that I don't really go anywhere. I used to buy stuff I didn't have any place to wear but it started to depress me when my life never got exciting enough to wear those pieces.:l ol: Also my body is too far from perfect for me to wear a lot of things so I don't try.

When one of my old friends was about to get married one of her supposed bridesmaids asked me where I had gotten my outfit from and when I told her it was JCpenney's she actually replied "You look like you would shop at JCpenney's" and laughed.

Oddly enough I still love clothes. You'd think I'd be less obsessed with them since I like plain stuff and only get to put on something super spiffy a few times a year.:no d:
None of us are perfect. I think everyone, even supermodels, probably have something they'd like to change about their body. You're definitely not alone. hug

I rarely go anywhere to dress up nicely either. Most of my dresses/nicer clothes are only worn on vacation. I don't care, if I'm overdressed then. Those people won't ever see me again. Stick Out Tongue

That girl was a jerk. I don't understand why some people think it's okay to be so rude. It's too bad their has to be so many mean people in this world.

Quote from nerdicus :
i find that i dislike change so it takes a long time for a trend to get me. this is why i don't have anything peplum yet. it took me a long while to buy even 1 pair of leggings. both of these trends don't work well for me, so i may get 1 or 2 pieces but i'm not changing my wardrobe.

my legs are shaped funny so while they may sometimes look long and thin (usually in shorts), they are not. leggings make them look funny so i try to do other things to fix it - i.e. if i wear a long enough sweater/tunic and then wear knee high boots it's not as bad - very little leg shown. :l ol: i've discovered my airplane outfit of choice tho - leggings with boots and a long sweater/short sweater dress. super comfy for those long plane rides without looking like i'm in sweats.
I do love the peplum trend. It's probably due to it being popular, when I was young. It's also very flattering on my body type. I've only bought jackets in that style so far. I need to get some tops & dresses, before they disappear. Hopefully, DH will be able to exchange the dress I received, so I will have at least one dress in that style. I haven't been in much of a dress shopping mood, since I bought so many last year.

omg, why did i think you were kurpee? Crazy silly me.

either way, i'm glad it didn't hurt you. that's such an underhanded remark - she was probably jealous that you spent less on your outfit and looked better than her!

a friend of a friend asked me where i got my bright green pants sometime last summer. actually she asked if it was from "_____" , and i said no, it's from the gap. laugh out loud i thought they were already pricey bc i couldn't find a discount more than 30% so i paid like $35 for them. laugh out loud

it was popular before? laugh out loud i had no idea. it does seem perfect for your body type. nod you should stock up!

i think my waist needs to be about 2" smaller for peplums to look good on me. i don't have an hourglass figure and i think they're best for those who do.

express clearance is now on fp.

wonder if i should try return and rebuy of those grey leggings. i would just have to return it and then man the register and snatch them up when they put it back on the rack. this would work better on a weekday with less ppl around tho.

I saw the pointed hem sweater was cashmere blend. I didn't notice it, but I can't confirm until I get it. It's OOS on the site.

I do love the peplum trend but I haven't bought a peplum. I am short with a high waist and I've always enjoyed throwing a skinny belt onto an otherwise flowy blouse and making it look like a peplum. I haven't seen any of the peplums in the store and I refuse to buy them without trying them on.

laugh out loud We are so spoiled with low prices. $35 seems like it should be a coat or something.

I wish, now I just don't have any friends. laugh out loud I need to show a little more skin. I'm even more covered than I used to be back then. Maybe I'll start working out today.

sounds like one of my friends. i deal shop for her thru her hubby now. he's always online. Smilie

the pointed hem sweater has a tad of cashmere in it, and no wool. it's the softest sweater. not the warmest tho, but i heart it. i have 3 colors now. the S works much better on me than the XS due to length.
