i've bought similar products before and every other time it came in a priority mail box. which is why i was ok with paying 6.50 for shipping.
BTW - cute dress!
i received the deep red print (velvety) blustery. i like it too, but it is relatively pricey. is it bad to own 3 pairs of blustery?
If you love them, 3 pairs aren't too many. They're all different.
I'm going to Belgium in May for business, and when I studied abroad in Vienna, I made a friend who is now living in Belgium. I will be staying with her for about 5 nights, which is super generous. She was a good friend of mine in Vienna (even took me to her house in Hungary), and we keep in touch. Since she's opening up her house to me, I want to go with a gift. What are some things in America that are desirable?
A friend of mine from France comes back to the US and always always ALWAYS buys a bunch of Coach from the outlets because it is just so expensive there.
Things I was considering.
1) A coach wallet from the outlet? (probably about $75)
2) A Minnesota Twins t-shirt (possibly VS)? What's more MN/American than baseball, and t-shirts are always usable.
3) some sort of scarf? maybe coach?
So, I have a few questions...
1) How much do you think I should spend on a host gift?
2) Are there any other little food items that are unique to the US that people from Europe like?
3) Do any of those gift items sound good? I like the wallet idea, but I don't want it to be like...overkill...but the outlet has a lot of nice things, and I'm pretty sure I could find something.
you're right - coach is extremely expensive overseas. the outlet online had some sales recently... 1/2 off all bags. i can't believe how cheap some bags are at the outlet. it would be really nice for you to get her a wallet.
and also, the vs stuff is a great idea. i just let my friend go through my gwp stash to bring back overseas to his cousins/coworkers. it's hard to get out there and people pay a premium.
but like GH said it largely depends on her likes. if she's into makeup i'd bring some american brands bc they're very marked up overseas. i think nars is like 2x as much in asia - crazy.

I hate seeing women walking around with a factory purse and thinking they got a $498 bag for $250 or even less. What you get is exactly what you pay for - a factory bag meant to be sold at $250 but stuck with a $498 price tag.

im picky about purses..but i recently saw a new brand at tjmaxx called emma fox.. and they have some cute leather handbags. they cost as much as coach tho.. n so far the colors have been either white or green lol white i'll get dirty n green is a bit much...
