i'm seriously going to cry, this whole no health insurance thing is really really hurting my wallet Frown

here's the With Insurance vs Without Insurance cost breakdown that i am now facing on a monthly basis
  • regular office visit for "medication management" - $56 vs $100
  • monthly script #1 - FREE vs $29
  • monthly script #2 - $17 vs $57
  • monthly script #3 - $43 vs $47
  • monthly script #4 - $8 vs $15

i don't even have to do that math on that to know that it adds up to one big pile of shit Crying
Scratch that, I just got back from the pharmacy. Monthly script #2 was $17 with insurance, and I just paid $113.

Time to stop going to the doc and get off of meds. Comfort I've been to the doc twice in the last 5 years BECAUSE of what it costs WITH insurance.

Some of us can't afford NOT to take the meds. Sad, but true. I'm a perfect example. I couldn't get my ass out of bed most mornings, if it weren't for my anti-depressants. And I'd still have minor bouts of depression three or four times a year if it weren't for my anti-psychotic.

Here's something I don't understand about pirating laws. My son likes a nature "pick up this deadly animal and not pay attention to it" type of show, and my bride like Downton Abbey. They are both on at the same time as The Walking Dead which I like. My show gets bumped b/c we can only record two shows at once. Why is it that it's illegal if I watch it from a download but not if I watch it on the DVR? I pay the cable company.
Walking Dead is on again two hours later...

Yeah . . . edited my response once I saw how insensitive it came across. And, VF, from what I know about you, you have every reason to be a happy man. If it's any help, I have the utmost respect for you and think you're one hell of a guy. :brohug:

But then you have to set the DVR to record all episodes instead of just the first run, and then you get screwed if you don't catch it in time to delete the repeats before the new episode gets bumped by another rerun. And what do you do when you have two other shows recording two hours later as well?

Unfortunately, I'm on Lexapro, which is one of the most difficult things to wean off of - at least that's what I've heard. Side effects from withdrawal are serious and severe when you come off of this stuff. I'm kind of in a corner here. Now isn't the time to come off anti-depressants either, given that I'm going on 6 weeks of unemployment. Down

I had to bite my tongue at the register. I almost said outloud, "Shouldn't you ask me to bend over, first?"

This, pretty much. Also, I'll say that this is a combination anti-depressant and anti-anxiety medication. When I was first put on this medication, that's exactly what I needed. Now, I'm not so sure. I'm considering calling the doctor to see if I can try another less expensive medication - but that would cost me $100 for a 15-minute appointment. No insurance, so the visit is expensive too.

My stepdad said the same thing this weekend. He said I could get off all of my meds if I'd just start smoking pot every day. Roll

I don't think my DVR works that way. It will use priorities and record a new showing later if necessary (sometimes it ends up recording old episodes that I guess still have the "new" flag set or something, but that's not a big hassle).

Oooh I never thought about that. What if you were on an expensive anti-anxiety med like Klonopin that's hard to come off of, and you lose your insurance. Then you can't afford the medication, and the visit to your doc to get onto something else or get help weaning off is also cost prohibitive...

Damn. That's a sticky wicket for sure.

Oh, I'm on Klonopin too. Ermm I started over a year ago on the lowest dosage of Lexapro and the lowest dosage of Klonopin. I'm still on the lowest dosage of Klonopin, but I've slowly increased the dosage of Lexapro. I went up last summer when I went through the divorce. I went again around Thanksgiving, because of all the crap going on at work.

Last week when I saw my doctor, she told me that the dosage of Lexapro I'm on now is sufficient to cover both depression and anxiety, so I can start coming off of the Klonopin now. I was OK with that, but now I'm not so sure because I don't know how long I'm going to be unemployed - and the monthly cost of Lexapro is farking ridiculous.

And yes, I thought of that earlier. I can't go to the doctor and see about switching medications - for a couple reasons, actually. First, it's expensive just to see the doctor. Then, what happens if the meds I switch to are not well-received? Another expensive visit, another expensive medication, only to have it also not work? Not to mention that being unemployed for 6 weeks is NOT the mindset you want when you're attempting to find a new medication to treat your depression and anxiety. Facepalm

Holy fark, when did my life take this turn? Where's my farking Do Over button?

You can get toe socks (Injinji is the most popular brand) but when I do that I need to go up a size or they're too tight. If you bought KSOs or Komodos you don't need socks though. I only wear socks with my Bormios and only when it's super-cold out. Congrats on joining the Toe Shoe Revolution! High Five

If you go running in them, take it easy the first few times. Your calves will thank me. laugh out loud

Melisandre is farking TERRIFYING Cold Stannis isn't much better IMO.
