i just figure that every song that has ever been written and recorded by someone is physically owned and therefore cannot be used by someone else without permission.

besides, you're playing the music and singing it yourself right? that's not copyright infringement. you're doing your own thing, and that's perfectly legal. at least, i'm fairly certain that's how it works. i did this research a couple weeks ago laugh out loud

I don't think it's quite that cut-and-dry, but it looks like it's trying to match the claim to a specific rendition. I just disputed it as not being eligible due to being public domain, and a traditional folk song.
