Iaaaiws - when do you think you will finally lose snow cover? You probably have snow mounds going into June.
As a rule the snow is usually pretty much gone by the end of April. I hope that will also be the case this year. We haven't had an unusual amount of snow, but the difference this year is that we never got any warm days during the winter to melt any of it or at least let it settle a bit. There could still be snow in the woods or the remains of snowbanks that were plowed up high and packed tight into May, but most of it will be gone by then.

I hope.

... Winter storm warning remains in effect from 8 pm edt /7 pm cdt/ thursday to 2 am edt /1 am cdt/ saturday...

Hazardous weather...

* light to moderate snow will develop thursday night and become heavy at times on friday before ending late friday night.

* snow may mix with or transition to sleet at times thursday night through friday morning.

* storm total snow accumulations of 8 to 15 inches are likely from thursday night through friday evening. The heaviest snow will be in the higher terrain of marquette county... With the lesser amounts over iron and dickinson county where a greater amount of sleet will mix in with the snow.

Impacts...

* the snow will be very wet and heavy and will be difficult to shovel and plow.

* roads will become snow and sleet covered and very slippery. Travel thursday evening through friday evening will be very difficult at times.

* the combination of gusty northeast to north winds and wet heavy snow could down tree limbs and cause sporadic power outages.

Some local areas are expected to get closer to 20"

And my atv plow is pretty much done for the year. Annoyed
After 8 or 9 years and pushing a stupid amount of snow I noticed this the last time I was plowing:

I can still use it in a pinch, but with this heavy wet snow that is coming I don't want to push my luck. I'll overhaul the whole thing this summer and it will be better than new for next winter.

sooooo sick of snow but at least I will end up not working friday because of it !!!!!!
TIMELINE

Wednesday evening: Rain will turn into a wintry mix overnight.

Thursday morning: Rain, heavy at times, will mix with snow and sleet.

Thursday afternoon: Well will stay in the 30s as we dance between a rain and wintry mix, but accumulations aren't expected until Thursday evening.

Thursday night: Moderately heavy snowfall is expected after midnight and into Friday morning, with 6-10 inches possible.

Friday morning: The heaviest bands of snow are expected between 2 a.m. and 10 a.m., with snow tapering off by noon.

Saturday: Sunny 40s will melt a lot of the snow on Saturday.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

The timing of the snowfall could make for a nasty commute on Friday morning. Metro snow totals are predicted in the 6-10 inch range, but higher snowfall totals are expected in the west. In fact, some areas could see even more wet, heavy snow that may be difficult to shovel.

If it hit at the right time here and is bad enough there is a long shot work might offer two hours show-up pay and let some of us go home. Most likely I will just end up parked most of the afternoon either sleeping or reading.

Just below freezing this morning. I don't think it got cold enough to damage any of the new plantings we've done over the past week or so. One more night tonight close to freezing, and I'm guessing that's the last we'll see of freezing temps til late this year.

And here we go with Winter 2014/2015.

... WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MARQUETTE HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER...

* SNOW IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP BY MONDAY AFTERNOON. THE SNOW WILL CONTINUE INTO TUESDAY NIGHT. PERIODS OF WIDESPREAD HEAVY SNOW ARE EXPECTED LATER MONDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT. LAKE ENHANCED SNOW MAY REMAIN HEAVY ON TUESDAY OVER HIGHER TERRAIN AREAS.

* STORM TOTAL SNOWFALL OF 6 INCHES OR MORE IS POSSIBLE MONDAY AFTERNOON INTO TUESDAY. HIGHER AMOUNTS MAY OCCUR DUE TO LAKE ENHANCEMENT.

This one looks pretty uncertain yet and most likely we will just end up with a couple of inches of wet slushy snow. But with the N/NE wind we could get dumped on with lake effect snow if the temperatures drop a little more than they are predicting.

yep for me also -

...Winter Storm Watch in effect from Sunday evening through Tuesday morning...

The National Weather Service in Twin Cities/Chanhassen has issued a Winter Storm Watch...which is in effect from Sunday evening through Tuesday morning.

* Timing...snow will start late Sunday evening into early Monday morning and continue through Monday night...tapering off Tuesday morning. The heaviest snow will fall late Monday morning through late Monday afternoon.

* Snow accumulation...8 to 12 inches.

* Other impacts...northeast winds of 15 to 25 mph may produce blowing snow. Travel may be hazardous late Sunday night through Tuesday morning...particularly the Monday morning and evening commutes. This will be a wet snow which may be difficult to shovel.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow...sleet...or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.

We've already got a couple of inches on the ground that fell over the last day or so. I have nothing ready to go for snow removal so I should really start fixing all of last year's damage that I figured I had all summer to work on. Doh
