bring them to the beach where LOTS of people have tattoos. point out the older ones and use terms like patina copper and prison tats.

If you ever want a top job where you will need to gain or hold respect, or any decent job where you are the face of the company, those visible tats will instantly kill your chances.
I've known a few good guys who could do a lot better, but when you are in big.business and dealing with millions of dollars and mostly stuffy professionals, those tattoos on your neck are a business killer
Also, world-wide people arent so huge on tattoos, so good luck dealing or selling anything to people who believe that only criminals have them!.
If you want to be unique, get one thats hidden and you'll do fine!

Your weight, your age, tattoos, piercings, hell, even how much makeup you wear as a woman - all of it can affect your job potential.
While I agree, things like tattoos shouldn't matter, but they do.
My brother works for a financial services company; he manages over 40 people and a few billion in assets, and he has a TON of tattoos. But the second he puts on his suit every morning, every single one is covered. He won't get a tattoo that would ever be visible in his work attire. He's realistic. He knows a visible tattoo would hurt his career.
While that may not be true for every profession, if you're in business where you often have to meet clients, it's certainly a lot more likely.
