Who has two thumbs and has a wife that went into labor on her own this morning?

This guy!

DW is having contractions, was dilated when we got to the hospital. Her OB broke her water. Waiting on lab results prior to getting her epidural. What a morning!

True...for some reason my wife wanted to wait. Dontknow I guess she wanted to make sure she was in labor. Didn't want to get sent home.

One of my fears about "Waiting for it to happen" - I hear many stories about contractions starting, rushing to the hospital, then being sent home. Sometimes this happens several times.

Note that DW would like VBAC but given that pitocin didn't work so well the first time around, and just resulted in a 28 hr delay in the "procedure", we're defaulting to just going with a C-section unless DD2 comes in the meanwhile (thus the C-section is scheduled for 8/2 and can always be cancelled).

When DW's water broke, I told her to call the OB's office to see what we should do (they have a 24 hour number where a doctor will call you back within 30 minutes). The OB had us come in, and they confirmed her water broke. That was one advantage - we couldn't be sent home because DD had to be out within 24 hours.

I remember trying to sleep after DW got the epidural, because it would be the last "good" sleep I ever got. laugh out loud

In that case, you should start taking steps to get things started a week before her due date...long walks, bouncing on an exercise ball, spicy foods, and sex.

That sucks...when we had our first the anesthesiologist was very chatty and would not get to it.

The nurse just made the call. Contractions are every 1-3 minutes.
