Last I checked, quoting a plan on Healthcare.gov is down.

Oh, and I need to buy my own health insurance because my employer is going to drop his coverage because of this crap. So it's good I can get coverage for my pre-existing condition, but it sucks that I have to buy my own.

yep "Important: Your account couldnt be created at this time. The system is unavailable."

Been getting that since just past midnight. How can I tell if this is a slick deal or not if I don't know the price?!?

As one of the 7 million or more, I look forward to this but I am going to give them some months to work out the bugs.

Wish they had this for my cats.

This thread isn't a Hot Deal -- it's political spam.

Oh boy, seeing how much attention this is getting especially now that it's also posted on SD... I get a feeling the site is going to end up getting hammered and working at crawling speeds come 8am ET. :/

sounds like your employer is a dick. what possible reasoning did they actually have for dropping coverage for employees? sounds like trying to get the best of both, not providing insurance for workers, AND knowing there is -something- to fall back on or the workers would be putting the owner in the hospital Stick Out Tongue

Thumbs down. I'm a relatively healthy 38 year old man who has been using a free clinic provided for by the one local college for the last 3-5 years who doesn't want to be forced to buy insurance.

Yet here we are now, where it's either buy in or pay a 'fine' if you don't with no concern about where people like me who were paying for individual coverage and got gouged out the ass by the insurance conglomerates are going to get this magical pixie dust money to pay for these ridiculously priced plans.

I can't afford the 'fine' and I can't afford the plan prices more than likely. So what's that leave me? Begging my family for money to pay the extortionists in the health insurance industry or paying our corrupt shitty ass government a 'fine' because I can't get the money up to get health insurance?

Either way it's money out of my or my families pocket that we'll never see again.

These douchebags in Washington can eat a dick as far as I'm concerned and every last one of them can choke on it.

It should be called pre-paid healthcare, not insurance. Insurance is designed to cover you in the event of a catastrophic circumstance that you would be unlikely to cover on your own.

Disney did it. Walgreens did it. Give it 2 years and company paid healthcare is going to be offered only @ executive level or for on-demand jobs. The fine a company has to pay for not offering healthcare is way smaller than the spending on the actual health benefits for the employees. Wait til the best doctors will go cash only or they'll have 2 tiers of ppl they are seeing. you pay an extra fee you want to see the doctor faster even if you have insurance. This is called "legal bribe" in Europe. If you don't pay the extra fee you either see interns of fresh out of med school doctors or wait months to see someone capable.

What was preventing them from dropping coverage before? And if you are losing benefits as you suggest, did you ask for a raise? Either way it's a free market, you only get insurance if you negotiate it from your employer so whether you do or don't get insurance or what you do or don't get paid is up to your individual bartering skills. It's the system we've built to give you more freedom.

competition

Before healthcare benefits, bad/good, were the norm for any job. Now it became a luxury
