Woohoo.

Looks like I'll be saving about $100/mo and getting better benefits!

Woohoo,

Looks like I'll be spending about $100/mo on benefits I don't need because I'm young and statistics prove I won't be getting sick enough in proportion to the benefits I'm forced to pay for.

As a insurance agent what I can tell the difference is after march 2014. All existing health care plan will stop and people will be forced to purchase Aca new plans. And I ran some quotes based in my zip code with my birthday. Seems all the PPO plans monthly premium below $100 will be gone in exchange to these 200+ Aca plans. Sure the coverage is better but seems to me the monthly premium burden for healthy young people will be much higher; yes these plans will certainly helps who used to cant afford health insurance, but it also makes people used can afford insurance to be difficult to afford anymore.

IMO a reform like this will only hurts the mid-class hard working people, as always.
Yes if you were healthy and could get away with a high deductible plan your plan goes away and you pay extra for better coverage you'd likely never use to help fund the plan. Not a slick deal.

Did some intern write that? That is the most poorly worded and researched article I've ever read. Might want to check the actual source from the law itself: http://dailycaller.com/wp-content...age002.jpg
Prepared by David Vitter (R-LA). Wait, the guy who paid for prostitutes with tax payer money?

Not sure where you came up with 55%. I heard it was more like 55.21% but I'm sure someone was counted twice. Anyway, now is going to be 0% and ppl will need a part time on top of the full time job they had just to pay for the healthcare. "Golf clap ". I never seen a democratic elected president working so well with corporate America.
More work = more taxes paid. that's how clever our politician is.

Just like car insurance?

What state are you from? Cheapest health insurance here in CA is $81/mo.

"someone"

let's not beat around the bush. That someone is the insurance lobby / industry.

and the "$90 fine" is only good for the first year. It quadruples or much more the second year.

What happens if you refuse to pay the fine or buy insurance? Are they going to send you to jail and have the tax payers pay for you?

I can't pronounce Obamacare a good or bad idea until I see the prices. Based on some calculators like the one over at the Kaiser Health Calculator, the deals look pretty slick when you factor in the subsidies.

But I'll wait to pass judgment.

Still thumbs up so that this gets attention and sparks more attention and discussion.

I just don't believe the right-wing sky is falling prediction. They are the ones who claimed we were headed towards higher inflation because of the budget deficits (something resembling Zimbabwe some even laughably predicted) and it didn't come to pass.

They also said this "socialist" would be anti business, and yet we sit with a stock market, SP 500 and Nasdaq at record highs. No conservative predicted that in 2008.

So I'll just wait before drinking that tea-flavored Kool-aid.

Either that or they'll jack them up. That's what happened to me when I was paying for Adult Basic here in the late 90's or so. It started out at about $100 or a little under and before I knew it it was back up to $200 or so for the most basic coverage.

Their excuse for the rate hijacking? Oh...people are overusing their plans and we also have to pay for the newer technology.

If the way shit worked was that your rate is paying for coverage for you and only you and YOUR usage is what determines it, I might be a little more inclined to want to pay in. But because granny with two bad hips, cataracts and a club foot needs major farkin' surgery MY rates go up, UP, UP....fark NO.

UGH! I hate this arguement. Statistically you have about the same risk as any other driver on the roads of being involved in an auto accident, hence the same insurance rate for all.

Statistically your risk of a health condition is NOT the same as everyone else. It varies (widely) with age.
