ABC new honor walmart price mistake?

144 621 November 6, 2013 at 11:41 AM in Other (3)
read this http://abcnews.go.com/Business/wa...d=20804317

When asked if the company will honor items sold to customers at the mistakenly low prices, Jariwala said the company is "still working through those details."

and this http://www.turnto23.com/money/con...ite-hacked

While United Airlines recently honored some $10 tickets offered by mistake on its site, a retailer does not have to honor an error, especially if it is the result of hacking.

People on SD always say this.
"oh the company would have so much good publicity and goodwill if they honored the price mistake"..
But come on, this is SD.. One week later: A SDer needs to buy something.. If that same item is 1 cent cheaper elsewhere, they aren't going to remember how cool Walmart was on the price mistakes. They are going to buy it where it's the cheapest.

Not to mention, if Walmart honors this price mistake, the next price mistake will have everyone ordering 10X as much and getting even angrier when Walmart doesn't honor it again..

I don't always say this, as a matter of fact I have never said this. Fill me in on how many price mistakes make ABC news? This isn't a single price mistake, there were hundreds, if not thousands of items that were wrong.

I could not care less, I was not expecting a TV at that price... however if there are more news stories about this that are reported I bet walmart agrees with me.

Also, if walmart makes another price mistake like this... than someone should lose their job....

eh, I mean there are people hired at these places to ensure that this stuff doesnt happen. If people went into walmart and swapped UPCs to get a lower price and get told no I think you are right. If you leave an item up for that many hours on your website, that is your fault. Do you know how much good press they would have gotten if they came out and honored these prices ? Tons, and it would have probably been cheaper than shooting a commercial and paying for advertising.

You are right for saying people have no reason to complain, but walmart could have and should have turned this into something else instead of cancelling orders (and this is not me being upset for not getting an 1100$ tv for 350). Now they get bad press for letting this happen and upsetting customers (justified or not), instead of a happy story about people getting cheap things.

perspective I guess
And yours' is one of an entitlement kind.

Not to mention your total logic fail! If an employee makes a mistake, the company should still honor it. What if the mistake was in the interest of the company and not the consumer?

Yep, too good to be true, but it was fun while it lasted:

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/07....html?_r=0

"Dear Customer,

Last night and this morning we experienced a technical error that caused many items to show incorrect pricing. We are working to quickly resolve the issue. Unfortunately, given the wide discrepancy in pricing, we have canceled your order.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and will be sending you an email with a $10 e-gift card (one per customer) within the next 5 days. We appreciate your business and look forward to you visiting walmart.com again soon.

Sincerely,
Your Walmart.com Customer Service Team"

They canceled my order. Lied to me in an email that it was because the store had no stock, as I was in the store and had spoken to an employee who checked the inventory literally a minute before I got the email. Apparently its corporate policy to lie in order to cover up mistakes.

Via Yahoo:

"The issue has been resolved and Walmart.com is open for all," Walmart spokesman Ravi Jariwala told ABCNews.com. "Given the wide discrepancy in pricing, we are notifying customers who ordered these items that their orders have been canceled and that they'll be refunded in full. In addition, we will send these customers a $10 e-gift card that can be used toward future purchases at Walmart stores and Walmart.com."

Yes I'm entitled by suggesting that Walmart could have had tons of internet traffic looking for more mess ups by embracing at least some of the mistakes.

If you buy an item from walmart, and get charged more... You notice and go back, they will fix it. I do t even know what mistake you could make to benefit walmart that the consumer would not notice.

How is it a lie if there never was a $35 LCD in stock?

Everyone still remembers United Airlines honoring $0 tickets that were part of price mistakes.. It would not have been big dent in walmarts balance sheet if they would have honored it.

Exactly, it would be like having a commercial on a ton of news networks around the country and cost significantly less, and also generate a good buzz a couple weeks before the holiday season kicks off

walmart has no obligation to make you happy... if you have issue with that then do what I do and don't shop there
