January 2014 Healthy Eating Group Invitation - No OT

68,603 3,764 December 13, 2013 at 07:38 AM in Grocery (2)
Nearly 3 years ago I started my journey to live a healthier and happier life.
Since 2011 I have lost nearly 90 lbs and I want to help others achieve their goals too.

Attachment 2432258

I know that New Years is a popular time to make a change and I would be honored to help you. To get you started, I will host a FREE 4 Week Clean Eating Group - I will supply everything, the shopping lists, menu, meal plan and coaching. All I ask of you is to be active in the group and support others in the group.

If you are truly serious about making 2014 your year to have more energy, lose weight, or pick up a free health habits post in this thread. Also, let me know if you have a Facebook account, I may create a private FB group and/or use this thread.

I only want those who are 100% completely serious about making a change!!!
I hope to make this grow and roll over each month.

sounds good.... i am hoping we can try to keep costs in check because i know many of us myself included have tight budgets so filet mignon isn't viable for both breakfast and lunch...
laugh out loud was that a shot at my comment?

I have that about... once in a blue moon.

I can go months and months without eating meat.

My biggest issue with be the workouts. I walk with my dog pretty much every day... 1.5 miles weekdays (can and should make that 2 times a day) to 4 on the weekends. But with my neck and now the rest of my back has followed suit I can't do weight training or even planks. I do have an exercise bike in the house that I plan to move back into the living-room right after the holidays.

laugh out loud I am a bit amused about our attitudes here. So many of us are saying we'd love to do this but.....

One thing that I want to work on and would love to have a support group to help is cognitive behavior therapy.

Another moderator mentioned this a few weeks ago http://www.beckdietsolution.com/ and I love the concept of changing how we think about food while working on the body changes.

Have you tried coconut flour anything?

I know of a few sites that would be super helpful for this on paleo and whatnot.

Interesting. I'm really quite opposed to artificial sweeteners. I've read so many things that make me feel like they're just bad news all around. I'd rather eat less sweets and just have real sugar when I want it.

EDIT: HI SCHOOB!!!!!!!!!!!! hug Blowkiss
I'm also anti-artificial sweetener. I would rather just do without the sweets. (Dark chocolate doesn't count, right?) Wink

I've switched to Almond milk and I like it! drool

I've had a couple of firsts last year. Having lost 55 pounds, I wanted to reward myself with some fun workouts. I did the Warrior Dash (5k mud run) with my daughter. I ran my first half marathon in a respectable 1:42. woot

I also had a rotator cuff tear which kept me away from the Tough Mudder, but I see that in my future, too! Embarrassment

I can't please everyone, that's why I suggest participants just pick & choose what they want.

My problem is I could care less about food in itself; I only eat because I have to live. It's not like I indulge in sweet things, or chocolate, or ice cream, or candy, or things like this; heck it's rare I even have a potato chip or a pretzel. I'm just not a junk food eater. I love fresh fruits, I'll eat mini carrots on a paper plate sprinkled with pepper to give me that crunch I desire; and the pepper gives them some zip. On the other hand, hubby will eat any type of junk food put in front of him, he's a chocoholic, loves potato chips, klondike bars and kitkats - and again a steak and potato man for dinner; whereas I'll do some different types of fish, but no tuna Yuk

I think that's what Schooby meant. Food is to nourish and sustain but most people fall victim (myself included) to emotionally driven eating. Bored? Grab a snack. Depressed? Eat a pint of ice cream. Stressed? Better to bite into food than bite your nails. Food is also a weapon for self-sabotage.

I'm not like that at all, if anything I'll stop eating or eat very little if stressed.

Either way, letting emotions interfere with proper nourishment and sustaining ourselves in healthy ways is, well, unhealthy. laugh out loud

I get what you mean; but I'm simply "not food driven" like many other people are. Which probably means I do not eat healthy; yet I'm not over weight either. I know I could use more exercise; but with the injuries I've had, I need to watch what I do in that regard. I use a lot of the exercises I was taught at PT to help me with stretching and keeping things flexible.
