Formula 1 the 2015 edition ****Mercedes is suing their Senior Engineer**** (post 172)

Huh Scratchhead

Formula One racing's governing body, the FIA, has revealed details of a new Super Licence points system, making it harder for drivers to become eligible for F1 competition.

From 2016, drivers must have accumulated 40 points over a three-year period, with points allocation based on which other motorsport series they have participated in and the level of results they achieved.

Drivers will have also have to be at least 18-years old, have spent at least two years in junior single-seater categories, hold a valid road driver's licence and pass a test on the Formula One sporting regulations. The existing requirement of completing 300 kilometres in a recent F1 car also remains.

*snip*

If such a system had been in place ahead of 2015, new Toro Rosso signing Max Verstappen would be ineligible to race in F1 this year, having accrued just 20 points by finishing third in the 2014 FIA F3 European championship - the 17-year-old's only season of car racing to date.

Doh Annoyed

Either the Mercedes team are idiots or there is someone in the Mercedes camp who doesn't want to see Hamilton win every race. I told DH this the previous time Mercedes screwed Hamilton over and DH said I was being paranoid, now he's starting to come around to my theory.

Apparently, its a combination of both the teams and hamiltons fault as Hamilton panicked and thought that both vetel and rosberg had already stopped since he saw the mercedes guys in the pits and thus demanded that he come in and change tires.
team didnt tell him to stay out and did not communicate to him that the others had NOT changed tires.
both took partial responsibility.

We didn't watch it live, too lazy to get up that early.

Verstappen has been given a 5 second penalty for the Canadian GP for causing the Monaco crash.

The fact that they didn't tell him the other two hadn't pitted puts the blame mainly on the team. That was a boneheaded move on the teams part.

it's hamilton the bitchy little baby we're talking about.
the team would have been wrong either way to him.
if they had told him to stay out and the others pitted and won he'd bitch.
if they had told him to stay out and he came in and the others didnt pit and won he'd bitch.

at the end of the day, he was screaming at the team that he wanted to pit, they told him to stay out, he ASSUMED the others had pitted based of no information other than a brief glance at the pits as he went by and seeing mechanics out in pit lane. and thus he turned the wheel and came in.
he made the choice, the team could have provided more information but time was a factor and they were telling him to stay out until he told them he was coming in.

Wow, you really hate Hamilton. Do you have any proof this is how it went down?

i don't hate Hamilton any more than i "hate" any other driver. In fact I have massive respect for his driving abilities.
His history of juvenile actions/reactions, however speak for themselves.
Same as Kimi's "don't bother me" actions do for him.

as to proof.
well there's Will Buxton reporting from the pit lane during the race, Martin Brundle bringing up Hamilton screaming to pit in his post race comments, Mr Hobbs and Mr Matchett both discussing this on F1 Extra and pointing out that Toto Wolfe was most likely not just taking on some of the responsibility but also trying to take more than they should in order to "cover" Mr Hamilton's actions and questioning of the team.
Plus there's Mr Hamilton's own actions where he publicly stated that it was partly his fault for reasons he didn't want to get in to.

They'd probably invite Putin to the party too.
