Q's CVS Lounge

6,510 5,400 October 6, 2015 at 03:21 PM in Cool (4) CVS
I changed the name of the thread because I think that Q's CVS Lounge gives a better representation of what the thread is about. This isn't a deals thread although I will sometimes be posting deals. I'll probably talk more about Transylvania and the stock market than I will about the drugstores but the main thing is that is that I want this to be a cool place to hang out.

The vast majority of people here have been nice to me. One guy, however, would blast me no matter what I say. I have no idea what his issue is since I don't even know him. I just get the feeling that I'm in the wrong place. My interest in SD is in the drugstore deals but I like to get off topic. I'm not really lounge material. I agree with the criticism myself.
meh. there is always that one person who irrationally picks on you that you totally don't deserve. just talk to any of the former printables thread wikibees. they all quit being wikibees b/c of him.

i was being bullied at the same time in the staples hot deal threads and still get off comments, but right now one of them is getting his face rubbed in it for 3 wks straight. we are only in wk 2. tomorrow we'll see if it continues for a 3rd wk, but so far my staples forecast has been 100% accurate compared to his. i think another ended up getting banned for a year for his overall attitude, not just towards me, but he was the most egregious.

i'm bottom line a DG person but i like to go OT too. i get my hand slapped regularly w/ the ruler. that's why i'm the OP of the printables chat thread, the target chat thread and the staples lounge. the staples lounge is in the lounge b/c sooner or later it was going to end up here anyway so i just pre-empted getting moved.

CVS was exceptionally busy yesterday. Not just one store but every store I went to. I'd say it was the busiest day I've seen so far this year. One store (which is usually busy) had a non-stop stream of customers walking through the door. They had 4 registers open and there still was a long line. The CVS's that are by a Haagen are now much busier since Haagen closed. Fresh & Easy closing also has an impact.
we don't have such crazy extreme couponing here for a variety of reasons, among them lower value q's in the inserts and we've always had limit 4 q's and limit 4 per variety or limit 4 offers at the most popular supermarket by far in the area. so not like anybody was buying cases of product anywhere. one of my cvs' did change to a 24hr cvs when the nearby pathmark closed but not sure why b/c no supermarket around here stays open past midnight and 10pm on sundays.

It's just stupid to go back and forth between the lounge and drugstore forums. I missed a chunk of the wags sale last week because I was here instead of in the drugstore forum. My fault for not checking but it wouldn't have happened if this thread was there instead of here.

I like talking about UFC and boxing. The lounge is a good place for something like that. It's probably good for Igor and Master, too, but just not good for CVS talk. It's bad for SD, too. The Q thread would be blowing up with CVS talk right now if it were in the drugstore forum. Oh well, like I said take full advantage of what I was talking about while it's still happening.

Master, why do I have to go to the lounge?

Because you were off topic, Igor.

What does off topic mean?

it means that you were talking about Dracola instead of CVS.

So...

Igor, some people only want to hear about the deals...

But what if there's a deal on Dracola?

Then that would be on topic and ok to talk about...

Master, is there a deal on Dracola right now?

No, Igor, I'm afraid there's nothing...

So you mean that I'm stuck here?

I'm afraid so, Igor...

you don't subscribe to the DG threads? i don't hew to any one place but i subscribe immediately to any wkly threads. i just go where the deals are. i actually started in hot deals, then moved on to cvs and target. i used to use another forum for shoprite until the person who wrote out the deals got a full time job and everybody there moved here.

I'm not kidding when I say that I'm not a computer person. Subscribe to a thread? I know what it is but it's not something that I would ever do. If I'm in the drugstore forum, I'll check out the other drugstore threads. If I'm here, I'll check out some of the lounge stuff and maybe go over to the podium.

My problem with wags is that the closest store that I actually shop at is over an hour away from me. With the other stores, I shop locally and I can just stick my head in. I have to have a good reason to go to wags. So yesterday I stopped in at CVS and got a ton of deals. I'd never drive an hour to wags to see if I could get lucky.

Confused why not? i didnt register for sd for 6 months so i would write down where i left off in the target thread, it used to be way more active than it is now. subscribing to threads is god sent. there was a time my subsciptions kept dropping and i wouldnt realize i hadn't read a thread in 3 days and i missed a lot.

it's not like you are an old dog. you CAN learn new tricks. since you didn't take off to hawaii, try subscribing. i promise you, you'll like it.

one of my motto's is *learn something new every day.* now it obviously doesn't happen every day but i'm open to trying and learning new things. keeps the mind active and sharp. b/c of sd i learned how to do pdf's, screenshots on my ipad and cellphone, use ig to do more than look at my sil's pics, use facebook, make google docs, and so on and so forth. keeps me relevant to the younger gen. i don't quite use it like they do, i prefer my posts to have some purpose rather than the 70% banality that is twitter. but this way i keep up w/ the younger members of my family. i fb pm them, IM them, text w/ them, etc and they respond.

you MUST subscribe! where's marciadel to back me up on this???

when there is a new post in your subscribed threads they show up in the bottom *new subscribed threads* box on your *notifications & activity page*/user control page. then you just click on the icon that looks like a piece of paper w/ lines and it takes you to the first unread post. if the thread is active i just scroll up a little to make sure i read the previous post. if you are long-winded like me, sometimes some other posts will be posted b4 you. but they won't register as unread b/c it knows you read your own post which follows so you might miss some if you were taking a long time to post and then somebody replies to you and you never see the posts b4 your long-winded reply. that's the only downside to *first unread*.

i know some people read the threads backwards so they don't have to subscribe. but if you are in it for entertainment just as much for deals, the entertainment won't make any sense to you.

if you follow a lot of threads, esp threads that very slow like dollar general or cvs clearance you just have to subscribe not to miss out. you might now check them for a very long time whereas if you subscribe to them you see immediately when people post to them.

it's also very important in threads like printables. some ip's disappear in minutes. you need to know right away that somebody posted.

Even I subscribe!!!!!!!!!!
I dk about the notifications part, will need to take notice.

I don't subscribe to weekly threads, just most of the others for stores I'm interested in, or ones for info....SB ones, coupon info, etc.
I used to read backwards, too. not easy..
True about missing those posted just before yours.

Just go to the Thread tools box in the thread you want to subscribe to. Click subscribe, then next page, click 'no email notifications', (unless you want tons of emails) and thats it!
I can just click on 'Quick Links" and in the drop down.. "Subscribed threads' and it brings up all your favorites, NO MATTER WHAT FORUM THEY ARE IN.

For the weekly deals, I click on Drugstore/Grocery discussion to get to all those threads.
I just go back and forth. Usually most of my 'subscribed threads' are in the DS forum anyway, so I can just click the link on top of the threads to get me there.

I know some people sticky, but I don't like that way.

I just click on the number in black box on left of the thread to bring me to the first unread post.

Yeah, my Shop Rite thread dropped from my subscriptions. Sometimes this thread goes off, too. Thats why I wonder if there's a limit. But I haven't entered a new one, so no reason SR should have dropped.

if you use *my account* menu in the upper right corner and go thru the user control panel or the notifications & activity link in the upper left corner which also goes to the ucp, you can see your reps, pm's and unread posts all on the same page. i don't like that the unread posts are below the fold and the notifications are at the top b/c i've already seen all the notifications in black bubbles. the notifications are frankly redundant in that position and i don't use it much at all. i argued this point during the last website update to no avail. it's just stupid. the notifications should be below the unread posts.

To see my reps, I look to the top of this page, under the SD logo, there is a blue bar with "Deals"...etc. under that, is a black bar with Notifications & Activity. I use that.
Last on the right of that black bar is the Quick Links I use with its drop down menu for "subscribed threads".

To check messages, I use the black bar way up on top after my name and before "My Account".

By 'Bubbles" , do you mean the pop ups on the bottom right?

But if you sticky the threads - they're all right there at the top and if you click on the number to the left of the thread (which shows you how many new posts since you last read that thread - if there are new posts the thread title is bolded) it will take you to the first unread thread. I check SD at least a few times a day so all I do is look at the threads at the top - see which ones are bolded with numbers and read those. Works for me - don't really see a big difference, aside from notifications, which I get enough of on FB.

Sorry slowtech & Marcia Embarrassment
