Gift Ideas for 9yr Old Nephew?

110 58 January 21, 2016 at 03:42 PM in Chat (3)
I am kind of stumped. My nephew will be turning 9 years old next week, and I was hoping you all could give me some great gift ideas! He is your typical electronics/video game loving boy, but I wouldn't mind steering him away from that a bit. Thanks in advance!

Obviously, it really depends on the kid. So either get something you think he might like (and provide a gift receipt) or ask his mother/father what he's into? Then, based on that...go shopping.

My 9 year old nephew isn't into minecraft/video games. He likes anything nerf, sports/outdoor stuff, likes to read etc He likes legos but he has a TON, so if I go the Lego route, I always make sure I give a gift receipt so he can return/exchange if he already has the set.

This would be a good gift, to give him a start at learning how the electronics he uses actually work. For ages 8 to 16 and it has good reviews.

That's a good call, looks like maybe a slightly cheaper version of Snap Circuits.
My kids seemed to enjoy them.

Some of the Neil Gaiman books would make a nice gift. This is a great boxed set, with wonderful illustrations by the amazing Chris Riddell, one of the books won the Newberry Medal and the Carnegie Medal.

You've been given some excellent suggestions here.

Maybe a stomp rocket or I found this great book on paper airplanes that my nephew seemed to enjoy. I think it was called The *something* World Record Airplane Book. Actually I wanted it for myself. [geekflag]

Tough call between that and a weekend at Charlie Sheen's place.
