I'm sure it's been mentioned and buried but extended warranty benefit goes away next month which sucks
Uhh yeah I have an Amex, this is not true lol
I'm sure citi fought hard in the bidding process to beat Amex to get the Costco account. Part of the terms were probably to offer better benefits for the customer....

Almost everyone does 1 year extended (including Amex)
This was the last free citi card to do the 2 year warranty- I believe there's still paid ones that do it... (my prestige does for example though that's no longer taking new applications last I knew)
Just got approved for the card, here are the changes:
"The following is a summary of changes that are being made to your card benefits:
Effective January 22, 2023, the Extended Warranty benefit will be discontinued and will no longer be provided for purchases made on or after that date. Coverage for purchases made before that date will continue to be available, and you may continue to file for benefits in accordance with the current benefit terms."
Unbelievable! I have the Citi Premiere and had planned to downgrade to the Citi Costco and their Warranty was a major reason. I'll still downgrade for no AF and points back for their gas.
Edit (11/19/2019): I appreciate the dozens of responses I got in 2019, but this post is nearly four years old and was written when the card was just being released with bare amounts of information. I have since received all my answers, signed up for this card, and have signed up for 15+ other credit cards since.. haha. Thanks!
Thank you for sharing this information. I like the 3% cash back on restaurants and 4% cash back on gas.
Is there another credit card without an annual fee that offers higher than 3% cash back on restaurants?
With this being managed by Citi, do others also think that we can generate virtual credit card numbers for this card?

BOFA does offer customized versions, where you can pick restaurants 5%
So, if I bought a MacBook on Citi card recently it'll still be covered with the extended warranty? There was no mention of it on Costco, just 2nd year Concierge.
I don't think so, 3% is pretty high on restaurants, and 4% on gas. The cards with rotating categories will beat these for 1/4 of the year, for example Freedom offers 5% on gas right now until April 1, but I don't think there's a 4% yearly gas card for no fee.
Pretty good card, it looks like
My AAA Visa card just converted into the comenity travel rewards visa which gives me 5% on gas, 3% on restaurants/travel and 1% everything else. Seems pretty good with no annual fee either. I can't find a link to it directly online, but there's multiple references to the AAA card switching to it. Comenity seems pretty odd and I think they call themselves bread financial now or something.
I use costco citi for the extended warranty. As the warranty is on anything bought instore or internet on any retail/wholesale. Not just costco.
Now that if they are taking that benefit, I may just use Chase freedom accumulate points, transfer it to shappire for travel points. Not sure its the best but I may need to check.
Any other cards gives the extended warranty? And if I use other cards, how will costco rewards work?

Yap they canceled the ext warranty on my double cash back card a few years ago. The 3000 monthly purchases dropped to 100

It's not about the switch from Amex - it's been updated to talk about them dropping the warranty extension.
They will accept any credit card online
I don't believe they accept Amex online.
