What would you do with $1,000+? *Moderate OT allowed*

12,150 1,493 October 25, 2016 at 09:25 AM in Question
Wife and I have our own spending accounts, basically we can use it for anything we want within reason. Mine is getting fairly robust at over $1k. Any advice on what to use it on? I'm thinking about buying a car on CL and trying to flip it, see how high I can grow my fund.

Any ideas?

laugh out loud that one was a joke. It's sitting in my yard ready to be donated. It's a 96 with over 200k miles, and needs a lot of work. It failed inspection finally due to front end issues. I can't remember if you were modding when I told the story about AAA dropping it off at the wrong place, and it sat for 2 days somewhere with the keys in the ignition and no one even bothered stealing it. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)
NPR will take care of all the paperwork and picking it up. I've heard that darn bit on their pledge drive for years, could probably quote it verbatim. It's the only news radio station I can pick up out here in the boondocks, aka: Cascade Foothills. Annoyed

Some interesting thoughts here. Already have a gaming PC but no time to use it. Bought a Canon T5 last year. Went to Thailand last year oddly enough. Also I can't play an instrument (no time). Bought a new mattress last year. Already have good winter gear. I wouldn't go to a Pats game for free, too much of a hassle to get in/out of. Night out on the town might be a good idea. I could use a new stove.

Tell me more about this Ford Explorer...
I have a 2000 Volvo V40 that Dad and I have the valves off of and were working on fixing it...but baby made things difficult...You could work on it...we already have all the new parts and stuff...just needs to be thrown back together...

The responsible thing to do would be invest it, put it in a Roth IRA or something retirement related, or save it up to use it as down payment on your next new car.

The irresponsible thing to do would be go to the casino and bet it all on black.

Unfortunately for me, next year my daughter requires a full set of braces. I am also looking at upgrading my family vehicle from a Dodge Journey to a Chevy Suburban. I will not have any extra money next year. Sadwalk

Can't do VR, gives me motion sickness. Wish I was able to enjoy it though.

With a 5 month old? Not likely! Might just end up creating a "college fund" or some garbage like that. Blech.

Easy flip is guns, every election year they jump up prices fast. Get them now before election. During 2012 election ARs went from ~$600 to >$1,000 for just a basic starter.
