What would you do with $1,000+? *Moderate OT allowed*

12,150 1,493 October 25, 2016 at 09:25 AM in Question
Wife and I have our own spending accounts, basically we can use it for anything we want within reason. Mine is getting fairly robust at over $1k. Any advice on what to use it on? I'm thinking about buying a car on CL and trying to flip it, see how high I can grow my fund.

Any ideas?

Bf and his friends used to flip cragsilist cars.. One friend still does it successfully. But he can sell anything to anyone. He also has a guy who does mechanic work on the side for extra cash and does it cheap. It can be done.

Get a used cocktail table style video arcade game or a pinball machine. It will make DW happy when you finally get rid of it. laugh out loud

Have you sold it yet? I would love to have the table top Mrs. Pacman from the 80s, loved playing that game, had the high score too.

I would say I would pay off bills but everyone knows I would spend it on random things like tea at Teavana or stuff on Amazon or heck, just food.

When has saving ever needed a goal? You save because you never know what might happen. But yes, I agree you need to live a little. I'm considering returning to Hawaii. Managed it for about $800 last time.

I think it will be a "save for a rainy day" fund, really can't think of anything right now. I did some relatively extravagant things over the past 2 years but that is only because I spent more than 1/2 of 2015 working 90+ hour weeks overseas. Saved a lot but spent some too.

I'd buy fishing gear. And another kayak. And some bait.

I'd buy a nice lens or flash for my camera. I don't have a flash, and the lenses are the ones that came with the bundle.

Or maybe pay someone to clean my house.

Ohh, or maybe sign up for those food delivery subscriptions that keep popping up in Facebook Ads. Or some various Lootcrate subscriptions.

If I knew how the baby would do once he's here, I'd put the money towards a geeky convention. Otherwise, maybe find a really nice bed & breakfast that isn't too far, and go for a few nights.

Maybe buy a really nice piece of art.

I used to use Teavana, then tried a tea called Two Leaves Tea (which was cheaper) and never went back. Best thing is you can bulk buy your favorite Two Leaves Tea flavors on Amazon and save even more money. I love their Green Jasmine tea (which I have set up on my subscribe and save) and several of their other teas.
