People taking peelies (coupons) off items in the store

Do you think it is wrong or okay for people to take peelies (coupons) off of items in the store when they don't ever buy that item?

i don't want to come across wrong, i'm just trying to get more information before i can make a decision on where i stand on the ethical value. on a 1 or 2 stance, its harmless enough.

like all sales/offers and things like that.. its fine if done in moderation. i'm usually in the favor if a company wanted to they could have put in extra security. tropicana could have made it so only 1 entry per person was enforced. if it was as easy as getting another email address... that's their fault. peelies aren't so simple. some products keeping it inside teh packaging is impossible. or its added money designing new packaging.. and so on.

i'm just trying to see both sides of the story. to me, anything that prevents even 1 person from getting the intended promo, just seems wrong. but if managers of grocery stores don't care who am i to care? Dontknow
yeah, i agree with you. how far is going too far?

nvm

I agree with you totally on your thinking, or...I should say I see your point... But trust me, there are plenty to go around. And if anyone goes out to buy some of these things there will be a peelie for them if they want. I agree, moderation is the key to any good deal. Unfortunately, not all people understand the concept of moderation. Greed is usually the culprit. I am only semi greedy Cool I could have amassed hundreds of these.,...but I have less than twenty, AND I have about 10 product. I don't feel bad. Only you can decide where you stand ethically on any issue. The same holds true for us all... Like another poster said earlier...people jump all over deals when they know it's a price mistake..I didn't see any flak a few months back when dell had a price mistake and it was posted on hot deals...people couldn't buy enough....I don't like to throw stones until I'm sure my own house is totally clean first.

In response to my vote of Yes.
Usually the coupons come with the package, and if you take it there is often some kind of evidence showing that the coupon is missing... which sucks. And quite often... the coupon isnt worth that much.

Its not something I would do, but I won't really say its theft or immoral or anything... its just stupid and disagreeable.

Methinks it's time for everyone's favorite SD thread game...

It's time to play SPOT THE ASSHAT!!!

Is it:

A) someone who takes a few peelies from a product (what the OP so gently calls a "peelie thief"....

OR

B) the type of person that would call "the authorities" to complain about an elderly gentleman feeding birds...

My name is McNulty25 & I am a peelie stealer.

I agree with everyone who has said that if the company didn't want you to take them at all, they wouldn't put them on there. I don't abuse the practice but, I have been known to take a "50 cents off this Coke product" peelie off a 12 pack of water & use it at my local grocery store that doubles coupons up to 99 cents and put them towards the purchase of a 2 liter which costs $1.25. Coke put them out there, they'll pay the retailer regardless of which Coke product I used it on.

Welcome McNulty25. The first step in getting better is admitting you have a problem. You will receive your 30 day pin when you have successfully peeled one peelie per day ( no more) for 30 days. In doing so, you will learn moderation in stealing peelies.
